It aims to enable students’s reading skills, with specific focus on texts dealing with the social, the political, and the economic scenarios of modern and contemporary France. - Derived from 21810063 Lingua, cultura e istituzioni dei paesi di lingua francese in Scienze politiche L-36 N0 (A-Z) TARQUINI VALENTINA (syllabus) The program is divided into three parts. A first theoretical part will illustrate, in a diachronic key, the morphosyntactic foundations of modern French and some essential phases in the evolution of the French language. A second part will focus on institutional relations between France and the French-speaking world, with particular attention paid to the question of language in the French-speaking South (Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific region). Finally, a third part will focus on the linguistic and discursive analysis of enunciation in the transnational context and will be carried out on a selection of authentic texts indicated in the program and available on Moodle. All texts studied in class will be part of the exam. There will also be language exercises at CLA for the refinement of written and oral language skills, through workshops and multimedia tools to develop communicative skills according to different learning styles. Since these exercises are an integral part of the training program and aim at obtaining B1 certification, a prerequisite for the exam, students and undergraduates are invited to perfect their position by acquiring in advance the calendar of lessons and the dates of the tests administered at the CLA to pass the language tests. 21810256 - DEVELLOPMENT ECONOMICS (objectives) The course aims to provide a synthetic yet complete view of the economic growth and development. In particular, the course aims to provide students with an overview of the facts to be explained, providing them with the tools with which to set up the analysis to enable them to construct their own independent and critical point of view. Starting from the analysis of production factor accumulation as an interpretative key to explain growth (i.ee physical capital, population and economic growth, future trends in demographic development and human capital), the student is subsequently exposed to the study of productivity (and in particular, to problems related to its measure), technology and the concept of technological frontier. Subsequently, the analysis framework is extended through the study of efficiency and economic growth in an open economy. 21801033 - POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY (objectives) The course aims to introduce students to political and economic geography and to offer the basic tools to understand the organization of societies and their spaces in particular: evolution of geographical thought and keys to understand the current world system - Derived from 20702477-1 Geografia politica ed economica - 1 in Storia, territorio e società globale L-42 DUMONT ISABELLE (syllabus) The course will address the evolution of the world economy geographic scenario in recent decades, as well as the evolution of the conceptual tools needed to understand the radical changes of economic and political nature materialized in this same period. With this in mind, we are going to discuss: the globalization and its territorial effects (from the breakup of the postwar global order, to the emergence of the Global South); the geography of resources (agricultural, mining, energetic); the industrial sectors in the third millennium; the centrality of urban spaces in the contemporary economy; the geography of transport and tourism and so on. In the second part of the course, we highlight the process of “spatial rewriting” of politics and we provide interpretative keys to understand the changes occurred in recent years in the complex relationship between geography and politics. Further to an overview on the evolution of the main schools of thought in the geopolitical sphere, we explore key subjects such as: the State and its transformations, from the Welfare State to Workfare State; the geography of regionalisms and nationalisms; the importance of social movements in contemporary politics; the areas of the world with the highest conflict rates and so on. 21802035 - HISTORY AND INSTITUTIONS LATIN AMERICA (objectives) The training objective of the course is to offer students the essential coordinates for the reconstruction, in the light of the most recent historiography, of the historical development of Latin America in the more general context of the events that characterize the history of the West. As part of this path, the teaching aims to stimulate the students' ability to contextualize, analyze, interpret the events and processes analyzed and to acquire good display skills in written and oral form.
