Environmental policy and sustainability. The course presents a brief overview of the main schools of thought in environmental matters, following their development especially in recent decades. The course discusses then about methods and tools of environmental policy, illustrates the geography of environmental resources and examines the role of the actors in environmental policy at different geographical scales, from global to local. The problems are also analyzed through some case studies related to different parts of the world. There will be lectures, an excursion and eventual workshops.

( syllabus)
The workshop "Methods and instruments of historical-geographical research" provides a basic understanding of concepts, theories, methods and instruments of historical and geographical research. We shall also study current techniques of investigation on geographical sciences, with particular attention to the development of geographic data from databases, search of documentary sources (qualitative and quantitative), design of digital maps. Are required: basic knowledge of geography and basic computer knowledge (with initial testing for admission); analytical skills, ability to work individually and in groups. It requires a load of work to do outside the classroom. They provided evidence of selective testing in progress and the realization by students of a paper or a final product.
