Aims: The course aims at providing the scientific and disciplinary contents for understanding the individual and group processes affecting (and affected by) social psychological systems (e.g., individual differences, attitudes, communication, social interaction). The course aims also at providing the tools necessary to understand the contribution of applied social psychological science to address important social issues in real-life domains, such as health promotion, environmental education, and pro-sustainability human behaviour.

Focus
The course analyses the issues and problems of gender and the cultural models related thereto: politics, gender organisations, family relationships, institutions of power, symbolism and culture, gender productions and consumption, etc. It will study in depth the themes of gender’s policy in a global context. It will also focus on the problems relating to the role of women in religious cultures, especially in the Mediterranean area. In particular will analyse the last survey “Women and theology in Italy”.

Position index properties. - Variability indexes: variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, range. Concentration. - Box-plot - Data transformation. Linear transformation. Standardization. - Contingency tables. Pearson chi-square index. Independence and dependence on average. - Covariance and correlation. - Simple linear regression model. - Statistical indexes for social science.

The objectives of the training are: a) retrace some conceptual nodes of the debate and ethno-anthropological research, successful completion of the concept of race to the formulation of that culture, to the deconstruction of the contradictions of multiculturalism, from the perspective of a new contemporary ethnography of the worlds; b) provide critical elements to address issues and problems of contemporary globalization as a complex Web of local and transnational processes; c) develop the perspective of studies of political anthropology, historical analysis of the contradictions related to the concept of ethnic identity as in reflections that define the scope of multiculturalism, placing them in connection with the reality of migration and in the study of the different forms in which old and new racism, along with other exclusionary practices, articulate processes of social construction of difference.

(objectives)
The course aims to provide a coherent framework of key concepts of Social Pedagogy, with particular reference to educational processes in society and in services, social educational needs,inclusive educational intervention, particularly in the area of social work. Moreover, the course aims to develop skills of social work intervention with regard to the planning of education programs targeted to groups at risk of social exclusion (in particular immigrants, refugees, unemployed and low literacy adults).

The course is divided into two parts. The first part is focused, through a theoretical approach, on education as a means of combating social exclusion. In the second part of the course, characterized by an empirical approach, particular emphasis is placed on planning territorial education programs to promote social inclusion, citizenship rights and social change in the area of social work, also through analysis of case studies. In the second half of the course, students attending the course work in groups to develop an educational intervention plan based on the course topics.
