French Literature 6cfu. First semester
PROGRAM:
Jean Cayrol e Jean Genet, two authors compared. Starting from the definition of the sacred by Georges Bataille, this course analyses the different forms that this notion acquires in the theatrical works of the two authors, who have been both deeply changed by the experience of prison: Cayrol, who was deported in a concentration camp, is the father of the ‘Lazarian’ literature and theatre. Jean Genet, who was sentenced to jail for theft, has been the interpreter of the misfit and of the outsider, with a privileged attention paid to sexual transgressions.

Emigration, Migration and Embodied History
“The 'classical' does not concern only the past: it is also concerned with the present and a vision of the future” (Settis). The program compares the Italian school and repertory in Russia (Italian dancers’ emigration across 19th-20th centuries); the relationship between the idealized dancing body ("Bella Figura") and the patterns of individual human movements across the world’s stage, in the era of world migration.

The course deals with the theory and the analysis of musical performance, both in terms of a specifically musicological approach (vocal and instrumental performance practices from the Baroque to the twentieth century), and on that of cultural history. In particular, it will be examined the figure of Maria Callas, also in the relations with the social context and with other arts (literature, theater, cinema, art, media).

The course is divided in two main sections: one dedicated to the Italian film director Nanni Moretti, the other one dedicated to the craft of film writing*. Through a series of Master Classes and a series of film screenings, the course wants to re.think about the film professions, above all the directing and the scriptwriting.
* Because of a collaboration between the University of Rome 3 and the Solinas Prize, the professor has decided to change the program focusing its attention both to the screen writing and directing. The students non following the course can take the exam with the already announced program. All the DAMS students can follow the Master Classes on screen writng. Attending these special meetings and the film retrospective at the Palladium Theatre, they will deserve 6 CFU. Obviously, the students regularly enrolled in the class will only deserve 6 CFU.

( syllabus)
The course is divided in two main sections: one dedicated to the Italian film director Nanni Moretti, the other one dedicated to the craft of film writing*. Through a series of Master Classes and a series of film screenings, the course wants to re.think about the film professions, above all the directing and the scriptwriting.
* Because of a collaboration between the University of Rome 3 and the Solinas Prize, the professor has decided to change the program focusing its attention both to the screen writing and directing. The students non following the course can take the exam with the already announced program. All the DAMS students can follow the Master Classes on screen writng. Attending these special meetings and the film retrospective at the Palladium Theatre, they will deserve 6 CFU. Obviously, the students regularly enrolled in the class will only deserve 6 CFU.

After an introduction to digital cultures, most relevant topics of the course are: A) the digitization of audiovisual media, multimedia convergence, cross-media, multiplication of distribution platforms, multimedia storytelling;
B) devices and practices of Web 2.5 and later : prosumers, Users’ Generated Contents, mobile internet, social networks, fandom, mashups, cloud, apps, Internet of things;
C) the new regime of vision ; second screens, urban screens, full HD, Digital 3D, Smart TV, Over The Top.
