A journey through some fundamental categories of the history of modern philosophy.

This course will give an overall introduction to ancient philosophy from the origins to the 6th century CE. Furthermore, we will read passages from Plato’s Republic.

After a brief description of the main philosophical currents of medieval thought, the course will examine the most important classical topics which have been prepared by rational reflection to prove the existence of God. Following the basic conceptual approach found in some classic works of Augustine, will be explained specifically the way in which it was gradually built a systematic relationship between the philosophical monotheism and knowledge offered by the revelation of the eternal Truth of the Trinity.

Confronting with contemporary authors, Sartre proposes again the central question of his philosophy: “What can we know about a man nowadays?”

TO KNOW MAIN THEMES OF LOGIC AND LOGICAL CONCEPTS WHICH ARE NECESSARY FOR A CORRECT REASONING AND AN EFFICIENT COMMUNICATION, ALSO AS AN INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING IN CONTEMPORARY COMPUTER SCIENCE.

Reading philosophical and literary texts, the workshop proposes an introduction to the basic philosophical and textual practices: analysis, synthesis, problematization, conceptualization, argumentation, imagination, storytelling, meditation, dialogue. The meeting with classical texts and meaningful interpretations will give the opportunity for a training in attention, active listening and writing.

The module has the aim of presenting an overall view of modern philosophical anthropology by means of the analysis of the works of its most important exponents.
