The course aims to offer students conceptual and methodological tools essential for a critical knowledge of the past, also in relation to its relationship with the present. The general objective of the course is to provide students with the ability to contextualize and understand the problems of the period between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, taking into account in particular the political and cultural changes due to the advent of modernity and mass society and the rapid acceleration of the industrialization process.
