(syllabus)
The module introduces the notion of localization and related concepts of internationalization and globalization, discusses the relationship between localization and translation, and outlines the role of translators within complex workflows including other professionals with advanced ICT skills. Then, it deals with the features of websites as multimedial texts and the theoretical and methodological issues of website localization. The final part has a workshop format: the translation/localization of web contents taken from various types of sites from and into English carried out by students at home will be corrected and discussed in class.
