Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
Il CdS conferisce una solida specializzazione sia in lingue, letterature e culture straniere, sia nella traduzione e nell'adattamento in ambito letterario, giornalistico e multimediale, ed altresì avvia al raggiungimento della maturazione critico-pedagogica e all'acquisizione della duttilità formativo-professionalizzante indispensabili per l'accesso agli ambiti lavorativi specificati nel Quadro A2a, compresi quelli relativi all'insegnamento delle lingue e civiltà straniere e dell'italiano per discenti stranieri.
Una calibrata ripartizione dei CFU tra le discipline caratterizzanti ed affini, così come l'erogazione in lingua degli insegnamenti di 'Lingua e traduzione' e 'Letteratura' (salvo specifiche esigenze didattiche) consentono il raggiungimento di un'avanzata competenza nelle lingue, nello studio critico delle letterature moderne in area europea ed extra-europea, nonché nell'interpretazione dei fenomeni interculturali e transculturali.
Consentono altresì l'acquisizione delle competenze necessarie all'insegnamento delle lingue e civiltà straniere e dell'italiano per discenti stranieri.
Le attività formative previste per il raggiungimento dei suddetti obiettivi contemplano sia tipologie di didattica frontale e assistita, sia di didattica seminariale più specifica e professionalizzante (anche con l'uso di strumenti dell'intermedialità).
Le modalità di verifica previste sono le seguenti: valutazioni in itinere, relazioni, esami finali (scritti e orali), tirocini e la prova finale (tesi).
Il raggiungimento dei risultati programmati è reso possibile grazie al congruo numero di CFU da conseguire prevalentemente nei settori delle lingue e traduzioni e delle letterature di specializzazione ed affini.
Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione
Il CdS, grazie all'attenta articolazione del percorso formativo, compresa l'individuazione dei settori disciplinari previsti tra le attività Affini e Integrative e una congrua offerta di attività Altre, permette di approfondire la conoscenza delle lingue, letterature e culture straniere, della lingua e cultura italiana, e di potenziare le capacità di applicazione delle competenze negli ambiti professionali specificati nel Quadro A2a.
Lo sviluppo di tali capacità è reso possibile grazie ad attività mirate a:
- applicare le competenze attive e passive acquisite nelle lingue straniere e in lingua italiana, in differenti contesti di comunicazione scritta e orale (giornalismo, editoria, pubblicistica, media, contesto educativo, ecc.) sia in ambito nazionale che internazionale.
Le modalità e gli strumenti per l'acquisizione di tali capacità sono: attività di didattica frontale e assistita e seminariale nei settori delle Lingue e traduzioni, esercitazioni linguistiche, laboratorio linguistico, altre attività di natura professionalizzante e interdisciplinare;
- applicare le conoscenze di tipo letterario, filologico e culturale, specialmente in contesti di tipo culturale e interculturale, nei settori dell'educazione, dell'editoria, della traduzione letteraria, dell'intrattenimento, del turismo culturale, della cultura, ecc., sia in ambito nazionale che internazionale.
Le modalità e gli strumenti per l'acquisizione di tali capacità sono: partecipazione ad attività di didattica frontale e assistita e seminariale, anche interdisciplinare, nei settori delle Letterature straniere e delle discipline filologiche;
- inoltre, sia lo studio delle discipline storiche, storico-artistiche, teatrali, cinematografiche, delle relazioni internazionali e della comunicazione, sia la partecipazione attiva dello studente ad attività curriculari 'Altre', perfezioneranno la professionalizzazione nelle lingue, letterature e culture straniere e nella lingua e cultura italiana nei due ambiti principali indicati nel titolo del CdS (Didattica e Traduzione).
Le modalità e gli strumenti per l'acquisizione di tali capacità sono: attività di didattica frontale e assistita e seminariale nei settori degli insegnamenti Metodologici, Affini e Integrativi, nonché tramite la partecipazione alle attività Altre organizzate dal CdS.
Autonomia di giudizio
Il percorso formativo permette di consolidare le capacità di raccolta e interpretazione dei dati linguistici e letterari al fine della formazione di giudizi autonomi relativi alla trasmissione del sapere nel campo delle lingue e civiltà e della traduzione e adattamento letterario, interculturale, transculturale e intermediale.
Il consolidamento di tali capacità avverrà attraverso attività didattiche frontali e assistite, nonché attraverso seminari interdisciplinari, attività culturali e professionalizzanti ed esercitazioni in itinere.
Tale consolidamento sarà verificato in itinere tramite prove scritte e orali e, a conclusione del percorso, tramite il processo di elaborazione e discussione della prova finale.
Abilità comunicative
Il percorso formativo permette di consolidare abilità comunicative scritte e orali di livello avanzato (in italiano e in lingua), che preparino alla relazione con futuri discenti e che consentano di relazionarsi con interlocutori specialisti e non specialisti, italiani e stranieri, in una prospettiva interculturale, al fine di trasmettere informazioni e idee, e facilitare, nell'ottica dell'intermediazione culturale, la risoluzione di problemi.
Tali abilità saranno consolidate mediante lezioni frontali, seminariali, esercitazioni, attività professionalizzanti e di terza missione.
Le prove in itinere e finali, le esercitazioni e la discussione dell'elaborato finale rappresentano i principali sistemi di verifica delle abilità comunicative acquisite.
Capacità di apprendimento
Il percorso formativo permette di consolidare le capacità di apprendimento autonome, che consentano anche, ma non solo, di accedere a ulteriori livelli di formazione (Master di secondo livello e Dottorato) in un'ottica di life-long learning.
Il consolidamento di tali capacità avverrà attraverso attività didattiche frontali e assistite, nonché attraverso seminari interdisciplinari, attività di autoverifica ed esercitazioni anche interattive.
Tale consolidamento sarà verificato tramite test di autoverifica, prove e discussioni in itinere, e verifiche scritte e orali finali.
Requisiti di ammissione
Per l'ammissione al corso di Laurea Magistrale in Lingue e Letterature per la Didattica e la Traduzione sono richieste le conoscenze corrispondenti al possesso di una Laurea triennale L11 o di altre classi, purché siano stati acquisiti almeno 54 CFU nei SSD relativi:
- alla lingua e letteratura di specializzazione e ad una seconda lingua e letteratura, tra quelle offerte dal CdS (L-LIN/03; L-LIN/04; L-LIN/05; L-LIN/06; L-LIN/07; L-LIN/08; L-LIN/09; L-LIN/10; L-LIN/11; L-LIN/12; L-LIN/13; L-LIN/14; L-LIN/21);
- alle discipline metodologiche e di base (L-FIL-LET/09 o L-FIL-LET/15 o L-LIN/21; L-FIL-LET/10 o L-FIL-LET/11; L-LIN/01 o L-LIN/02)
Come specificato nei requisiti imposti dal regolamento didattico del CdS, una equilibrata articolazione dei CFU acquisiti nei suddetti SSD consente di intraprendere con successo il percorso formativo strutturato in questo ordinamento.
L'accertamento è compiuto secondo modalità definite dal Regolamento del CdS.
Prova finale
La Laurea Magistrale in Lingue e Letterature per la Didattica e la Traduzione si consegue previo superamento di una prova finale, che consiste nella presentazione e discussione di un elaborato scritto dal candidato sotto la guida di un relatore.
Essendo finalizzato al completamento formativo del percorso magistrale, l'argomento di tale elaborato sarà scelto obbligatoriamente nell'ambito di un settore scientifico-disciplinare di specializzazione linguistico-letteraria straniera o dell'italiano L2 e dovrà comunicare in modo efficace un sufficiente grado di originalità fondato sul consolidamento dell'autonomia di giudizio e sulla capacità di apprendimento autonomo.
Orientamento in ingresso
Le azioni di orientamento in ingresso sono improntate alla realizzazione di processi di raccordo con la scuola secondaria di secondo grado.
Si concretizzano sia in attività informative e di approfondimento dei caratteri formativi dei Corsi di Studio (CdS) dell'Ateneo, sia in un impegno condiviso da scuola e università per favorire lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza da parte degli studenti e delle studentesse nel compiere scelte coerenti con le proprie conoscenze, competenze, attitudini e interessi.
Le attività promosse si articolano in:
a) incontri e iniziative rivolte alle future matricole;
b) sviluppo di servizi online (pagine social, sito), realizzazione e pubblicazione di materiali informativi sull'offerta formativa dei CdS (guide di dipartimento, guida breve di Ateneo, locandina dell'offerta formativa, newsletter dell'orientamento).
L'attività di orientamento in ingresso prevede cinque principali attività, distribuite nel corso dell'anno accademico, alle quali partecipano tutti i Dipartimenti e i CdS:
• Giornate di Vita Universitaria (GVU), si svolgono ogni anno nell'arco di circa 4 mesi e sono rivolte agli studenti degli ultimi due anni della scuola secondaria superiore.
Si svolgono in tutti i Dipartimenti dell'Ateneo e costituiscono un'importante occasione per le future matricole per vivere la realtà universitaria.
Gli incontri sono strutturati in modo tale che accanto alla presentazione dei Corsi di Laurea, gli studenti possano anche fare un'esperienza diretta di vita universitaria con la partecipazione ad attività didattiche, laboratori, lezioni o seminari, alle quali partecipano anche studenti seniores che svolgono una significativa mediazione di tipo tutoriale.
Partecipano annualmente circa 4.000 studenti; nel 2022 in via telematica hanno partecipato 1.923 e in presenza 1.788 per un totale di 3.711 utenti.
Inoltre le GVU 2022 hanno totalizzato su YouTube 4.627 visualizzazioni;
• Autorientamento, un progetto destinato agli studenti delle IV classi della scuola secondaria superiore e che si svolge ogni anno nell'arco di 5 mesi.
Si sviluppa in collaborazione diretta con alcune scuole per favorire l'accrescimento della consapevolezza nella scelta del percorso universitario da parte degli studenti.
Il progetto, infatti, è articolato in incontri svolti presso le scuole ed è finalizzato a sollecitare nelle future matricole una riflessione sui propri punti di forza e sui criteri di scelta.
Aspetto caratterizzante il progetto, inoltre, è la presenza degli studenti seniores dei nostri Corsi di Laurea che attraverso la propria esperienza formativa possono offrire un punto di vista attuale rispetto all'organizzazione e al funzionamento del mondo accademico.
Nell'anno scolastico 2021-22 la realizzazione del progetto, in modalità online, ha dato la possibilità a 16 scuole (per un totale di 832 studenti) - dislocate sul territorio romano e laziale - di partecipare.
• Attività di orientamento sviluppate dai singoli Dipartimenti, mediante incontri in presenza e servizi online;
• Incontri presso le scuole ed enti: l'Ufficio orientamento ha ricevuto inviti a partecipare ad eventi di orientamento da parte delle scuole per un totale di 37 inviti e 2 da due enti (Poliferie, un'Associazione di volontariato composta da giovani che si occupano di orientamento nelle zone più periferiche delle città; il Servizio Informagiovani di Roma Capitale).
Concordemente con quanto stabilito in Gloa (Gruppo di Lavoro per l'Orientamento di Ateneo) la procedura è stata la seguente: ogni invito è stato inoltrato ai referenti Gloa presso i dipartimenti e le scuole, a fronte delle diverse possibilità offerte, hanno liberamente scelto di partecipare anche alle proposte del nostro Ateneo.
Si evidenzia che anche in questa attività, come per le altre attività di orientamento, hanno partecipato varie scuole di altre Regioni, grazie alla possibilità dell'online.
• Orientarsi a Roma Tre nel 2022 si è svolta in presenza presso il Nuovo Palazzo degli Uffici di Via Ostiense 133.
Nelle aule del dipartimento di Giurisprudenza sono state organizzate le presentazioni dell'offerta formativa dei Dipartimenti che sono state seguite anche in diretta streaming e che poi sono state caricate su YouTube.
Il portale dell'orientamento realizzato nel 2020 è stato aggiornato e ne è stata realizzata una versione in inglese: orientamento.uniroma3.it.
Rappresenta la manifestazione che riassume le annuali attività di orientamento in ingresso e si svolge ogni anno alla fine dell'anno accademico.
L'evento accoglie, perlopiù, studenti romani che partecipano per mettere definitivamente a fuoco la loro scelta universitaria.
Durante la manifestazione viene presentata l'offerta formativa e sono promossi tutti i principali servizi di Roma Tre, le segreterie didattiche e la segreteria studenti.
I servizi di orientamento online messi a disposizione dei futuri studenti universitari sono nel tempo aumentati, tenendo conto dello sviluppo delle nuove opportunità di comunicazione tramite web e tramite social.
Inoltre, durante tutte le manifestazioni di presentazione dell'offerta formativa, sono illustrati quei siti web di Dipartimento, di Ateneo, Portale dello studente, etc., che possono aiutare gli studenti nella loro scelta.
Infine, l'Ateneo valuta, di volta in volta, l'opportunità di partecipare ad ulteriori occasioni di orientamento in presenza ovvero online (Salone dello studente ed altre iniziative).

Inoltre, durante tutte le manifestazioni di presentazione dell'offerta formativa, sono illustrati quei siti web di Dipartimento, di Ateneo, Portale dello studente, etc., che possono aiutare gli studenti nella loro scelta.
Infine, l'Ateneo valuta, di volta in volta, l'opportunità di partecipare ad ulteriori occasioni di orientamento in presenza ovvero online (Salone dello studente ed altre iniziative).
Il Dipartimento di Lingue, Letterature e Culture Straniere ha istituito la Commissione Orientamento, Tutorato e Terza Missione (OTTM), che promuove e organizza tali attività.
Nell'ambito delle attività coordinate dalla suddetta Commissione vi è la promozione del Corso di Laurea Magistrale, attraverso l'orgranizzazione Organizzazione di un “Open Day” riservato alla presentazione dell'offerta formativa della LM e all'illustrazione dei percorsi post-lauream.
Altre azioni messe in campo dalla Commissione OTTM: Coordinamento delle azioni dei Tutor, formazione degli stessi per lo svolgimento delle proprie mansioni; Coordinamento, raccolta dati e monitoraggio delle azioni messe in campo dai Tutor di tipo B; Produzione di materiali e documentazione promozionale del Dipartimento; Incontri di orientamento in sede su richiesta (da inoltrare al coordinatore della Commissione): accoglienza degli studenti per tour della struttura.
Servizio di orientamento a distanza
Il CdS offre da tempo un servizio di orientamento a distanza rivolto a:
- Esterni: gli studenti di altri atenei o dipartimenti, interessati a saperne di più sulla nostra offerta, possono trovare nei tutor un valido supporto.
Lo stesso vale per chi non è più studente, perché già laureato o perché ha deciso, dopo anni di vita fuori dall'Università, di mettersi di nuovo alla prova.
Ci si può infatti rivolgere ai tutor scrivendo agli indirizzi e-mail dedicati (i dettagli sono pubblicati e aggiornati regolarmente nella sezione Orientamento del sito web del Dipartimento).
Il Corso di Studio in breve
Il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Lingue e Letterature per la Didattica e la Traduzione (LM-37) permette di elevare il grado di formazione raggiunto dai laureati triennali, attraverso il perfezionamento delle conoscenze e competenze linguistiche e letterarie già ottenute nel precedente livello di corso di studio e attraverso l'acquisizione di abilità professionalizzanti attinenti principalmente ai settori educativo-formativo, della comunicazione, della traduzione e dell'adattamento in ambito letterario, giornalistico, editoriale (cartaceo e digitale) e per i diversi settori dello spettacolo (audiovisivi, teatro, new media).
Il CdS in Lingue e Letterature per la Didattica e la Traduzione ha come obiettivi specifici:
a) l'acquisizione di conoscenze e di metodologie critiche avanzate riguardanti la lettura, l'analisi del discorso e l'esame critico, la traduzione e l'adattamento di testi in lingua straniera e in italiano, insieme all'acquisizione delle tecniche argomentative e comunicative applicate alla produzione scritta/orale di livello elevato, anche in prospettiva transmediale.
Tali competenze saranno ulteriormente sviluppate con l'ausilio di specifici strumenti informatici e materiali didattici multimediali, nonché con altre attività specifiche per l'analisi del testo e la traduzione nelle lingue il cui insegnamento è attivato presso il CdS e mirate all'applicazione delle suddette competenze in ambito professionale;
b) l'acquisizione degli strumenti teorici e applicativi per la didattica delle lingue e delle letterature;
c) il perfezionamento delle competenze di livello avanzato in una delle lingue e letterature straniere di specializzazione tra quelle il cui insegnamento è attivato presso il CdS, con lo sviluppo di ulteriori abilità e competenze specificamente indirizzate alla professionalizzazione negli ambiti di cui sopra;
d) a seconda degli insegnamenti caratterizzanti ed affini scelti nel piano di studi: 1) il consolidamento delle competenze di livello avanzato in una seconda lingua e letteratura straniera di specializzazione tra quelle il cui insegnamento è attivato presso il CdS, oppure 2) l'acquisizione delle competenze necessarie all'insegnamento dell'italiano come lingua straniera;
e) lo sviluppo di capacità autonome di apprendimento, che consentano di accedere proficuamente a livelli successivi di formazione (master di secondo livello e Dottorato di ricerca) e/o alle modalità di reclutamento dei docenti della scuola previste dalla legislazione in materia;
f) il consolidamento delle capacità di raccolta e interpretazione dei dati linguistici e letterari al fine della formazione di giudizi autonomi relativi alla trasmissione del sapere nel campo delle lingue e civiltà e della traduzione e adattamento in ambito letterario, interculturale, transculturale e intermediale.
g) il consolidamento di abilità comunicative scritte e orali di livello avanzato (in italiano e in lingua), che preparino alla relazione con futuri discenti e che consentano di relazionarsi con interlocutori specialisti e non specialisti, italiani e stranieri, in una prospettiva interculturale, al fine di trasmettere informazioni e idee, e facilitare, nell'ottica dell'intermediazione culturale, la risoluzione di problemi.
Al fine di conseguire gli obiettivi formativi previsti, il CdS prevede una equilibrata distribuzione di CFU tra il settore letterario e culturale (letterature straniere, letteratura italiana, storia, filologie), quello linguistico (lingue e traduzioni straniere, linguistica italiana) e quello didattico (didattica delle lingue moderne).
A questo proposito, tutti gli insegnamenti relativi alle lingue e letterature moderne verranno impartiti, salvo specifiche esigenze didattiche, nella corrispondente lingua straniera.
Il CdS è strutturato in un unico curriculum e non prevede propedeuticità tra i vari insegnamenti all'interno dello stesso anno di corso.
Le propedeuticità riguardano invece l'accesso ad alcuni degli insegnamenti relativi ai SSD di Lingua e traduzione e di Letteratura del secondo anno, per cui è necessario aver superato i relativi esami propedeutici programmati al primo anno.
Lo studente iscritto al corso di laurea magistrale in Lingue e Letterature per la Didattica e la Traduzione può scegliere se costruire un profilo esclusivamente internazionale, con elevata specializzazione in due lingue e letterature straniere, oppure un profilo di specializzazione elevata in una lingua e letteratura straniera accompagnata all'acquisizione delle competenze relative all'insegnamento dell'italiano per discenti stranieri.
La scelta della filologia è legata alla scelta della prima lingua, così come quella delle letterature è legata alla scelta delle rispettive lingue.
Per gli studenti che hanno indicato lo spagnolo come una delle due lingue, la scelta della letteratura caratterizzante (Letteratura spagnola oppure Lingua e Letterature Ispanoamericane) è determinata dagli studi pregressi, ovvero dal tipo di Letteratura scelto nel corso di laurea triennale di provenienza.

Plasmar las ideas. Textualidad y argumentación en la prosa en español/ Shaping ideas. Textuality and argumentation in Spanish prose is one of the characterising modules of the programme. The aim of the course is to hone the advanced communicative and argumentative skills in Spanish, both in written and oral production. This will be carried out through the analysis of a variety of Spanish and/or Hispanic-American prose texts, with a focus on linguistic and argumentative strategies. Learners will also be guided in using the skills they have acquired to carry out translation analysis (in a diachronic or transmedial perspective), and the translation of a selection of texts. In addition, the course provides advanced critical skills and methodologies about the Spanish language, the aim of which is the development of critical awareness, autonomous learning ability and editorial skills in specialized and non-specialized contexts, from an intercultural perspective. At the end of the module students will be able to: consolidate and put into practice previously acquired linguistic and communicative skills (active, passive and mixed); carry out an independent analysis of linguistically and translationally diverse texts; recognise linguistic varieties, argumentative structures and discursive strategies; reword texts in Spanish and translate and/or adapt texts into Italian; write and present argumentative texts to the class orally; make intercultural and transcultural comparisons; adapt their written and oral production in Spanish and in Italian according to their addressees.

The student is expected to develop a deeper awareness of the multifaceted nature of English as an international language, while using this language as a tool for work and metalinguistic reflection. Specific methodological skills related to the pedagogical implications of Global Englishes in the field of English language teaching will also be provided, including a critical reflection on the role of the teacher, the purpose of activity design, and different learning styles. At the end of the module students will be able to: develop lesson plans for the teaching of English in an international context; communicate in written and oral form at an advanced level, including the acquisition of socio-cultural competence.

At the end of the module students will be able to: autonomously analyse literary texts and phenomena employing the theoretical, critical, educational, and practical tools they have acquired; communicate at an advanced level the disciplinary content. Prerequisites: students enrolled in other degree programmes are allowed to select this module if they have gained at least 12 CFU in English Literature in their bachelor’s degree, and can certify the attainment of a B2 level of English.

O português no mundo: variações diatópicas, proximidades românicas, intercompreensão/ Portuguese language in the world: diatopic variations, romanesque proximities, intercomprehension is one of the characterising modules of the programme. The aim of the course is to hone advanced language and communication skills in written and oral production, in Portuguese. This will be carried out through the development of a deep knowledge of the phenomena of language variation at diatopic level (Portugal, Brazil and former colonies in Africa and Asia). At the same time, the numerous similarities that characterise the relationship with the Spanish language and, in general, the link with the common Romance root at various linguistic levels will also be highlighted. In this sense, a theoretical-practical approach to the teaching of Portuguese as a foreign language will be proposed. It will be based on the use of intercomprehension in diverse educational settings. This, in addition to enhancing the reflection through the comparison of languages, will strengthen the learner's metalinguistic awareness of the L1. This approach will also be particularly useful for teacher training in the area of Italian as a foreign language. At the end of the module students will be able to: carry out an independent linguistic analysis of different kinds of texts; recognise the phenomena of variation and linguistic contact; reflect on the pedagogic uses of the texts that were studied and adapt them to potential educational contexts; make intercultural comparisons; communicate the contents of the module effectively.

Classicismes et modernités / Classicisms and modernities is one of the characterising modules of the programme. Students will acquire advanced critical knowledge and methodologies through the analysis of literary texts of the Francophone area. In a broad cultural perspective, ranging from the XVI through the XXI centuries, such works form a rich and fluid historiographic horizon, characterized by the succession, intersection or overlap of the notions of classicism and modernity that have been both widely recognized as inherently plural categories. Students will also be able to acquire the theoretical and practical tools related to the teaching of literature and to improve their ability to make independent use of the latest theoretical tools for an in-depth analysis of issues concerning the rewriting and transposition of literary texts, also from an intermedial perspective (adaptation of literary texts for the screen, television, radio, theatre, and other audio-visual media). At the end of the module students will be able to: communicate at an advanced level the disciplinary content; apply methodological tools and cross-cutting skills to the analysis of literary texts and phenomena, such as rewriting and transposition; employ texts in an educational and professional context; adapt texts from an intermedial perspective.

It provides advanced critical knowledge and methodologies for the analysis of the literary texts and cultural phenomena of Brazil in a broad time frame, which will allow students to grasp the specific characteristics of contemporary Brazil, but also its deep links with Portugal and the Latin American region. It allows both to consolidate the knowledge learned during the three years and to develop a stronger mastery of updated critical tools, aimed at developing interpretative parameters appropriate to the Brazilian reality and an autonomous interpretation of the literary text. In addition, the theoretical problems of literary translation will be examined in depth, also through specific exercises. Finally, a first theoretical-practical reflection on the teaching of literature will be launched. At the end of the module students will be able to: autonomously analyze texts and literary phenomena of Brazil in their transcultural, as well as historical-political and cultural dimension; make comparisons with the Lusophone and Latin American realities; write and/or present to the class short analytical essays; read and translate different literary texts communicating the disciplinary contents at an advanced level; select and adapt texts according to the educational contexts. The aim of the course is to hone advanced language and communication skills in written and oral production, in Portuguese. This will be carried out through the development of a deep knowledge of the phenomena of language variation at diatopic level (Portugal, Brazil and former colonies in Africa and Asia). North American literatures and visual cultures is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It allows students to acquire linguistic and communicative skills as well as the competence to analyse poetic, narrative, and theatrical texts taking into account the linguistic and cultural complexity of North America. Special attention is devoted to the study of the relationships between literature and the visual arts, such as cinema, photography, the graphic novel, and painting. At the end of the module students will be able to: enhance their critical awareness; make independent use of the most advanced theoretical methods for analysing literary texts and phenomena; communicate at an advanced level the disciplinary content. Prerequisites: students enrolled in other degree programmes are allowed to select this module if they have gained at least 12 CFU in Anglo-American language and literatures for their bachelor’s degree and can certify the attainment of the B2 level in the English language.
Note: for LM37 students enrolled in the international curriculum “English and Anglo-American Studies” (English-English Literature), this module can be chosen as an associated subject (“materia affine”) to the literature of specialisation.

It provides students with specialised skills for an understanding of the different literary genres, consolidating a methodological approach to the analysis of literary texts. Special attention will be given to intertextual relations within a common cultural tradition, considering also deviations from the canon and phenomena of hybridisation. Русская Литература: Темы И/ Russian literature: topics, thematic and critical paths is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It aims to consolidate language skills and sharpen specialised tools for a critical engagement with literary texts and phenomena. Student’s autonomy is pursued in the selection and application of critical approaches to the monographic topic of the module. At the same time, translation abilities will be enhanced, with a focus on both literary and specialised texts. The latter will include written (e.g. review, abstract, essay, comment), oral (e.g. presentation to the class, oral report) and digital (e.g. teaching platforms, blogs…) genres, with the knowledge acquired applicable to either research or professional practice. These competences will be integrated with in-depth knowledge of some specialized languages (particularly business, advertising and tourism) and their specific vocabulary. At the end of the module students will be able to: communicate orally and in writing at a very advanced level, thanks to a thorough linguistic and cultural competence; implement the transversal methodological tools and skills they have acquired in areas such as research, teaching and professional fields. Do e para o português: recursos, ferramentas e estratégias na prática tradutória especializada/ From and to Portuguese: resources, tools and strategies in specialized translation practice is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It provides language knowledge and communication skills in Portuguese (C1+ according to the CEFR) in the diverse dimensions of variation. Particular emphasis will be placed on parameters that affect language use in various socio-cultural and pragmatic contexts. The theoretical study and the consolidation of the ability to analyse specific genres and types of text will be the basis of an approach to translation that takes into account criteria that are external to the text (such as the communicative intention of the sender and the receivers), as well as internal, like cognitive content, the expected recipients’ level of knowledge, lexical and syntactic characteristics, additional elements such as tables, graphs, etc. A part of the module consists in a laboratory that will be focused on translation, particularly on the phases of preparation, development and revision, as well as on finding resources and how to use several support tools. At the end of the module students will be able to: communicate at a high level of proficiency, both orally and in writing; carry out an independent analysis of the socio-cultural and pragmatic aspects of communication in Portuguese, and of different types of texts; reflect on the translation process; revise texts in Portuguese and translate them into Italian; use tools and bibliographic resources for linguistic-translational analysis and translation appropriately.

Advanced Topics in Translation: Cultural, Linguistic and Professional Issues is one of the characterising modules of the programme. The aim of the module is to hone communication skills at an advanced level in English (C1+ of the CEFR), while improving the ability to reflect on language and textuality in a contrastive perspective. The analysis of complex texts, including typologically and diachronically differentiated multimedial ones, will be intended as preliminary to translational work, an area in which the student will acquire skills related to translation in its various articulations. During the course of this module, the student will have the opportunity to learn about the tools of corpus linguistics, exploring its applications in depth both from the point of view of translation, and of the description of linguistic varieties in different textual genres. At the end of the module students will be able to: translate and adapt creative texts; subtitle audio-visual products; draw information from linguistic corpora for the translation and editing of texts and content at a professional level.

En el taller del editor de textos/ In the workshop of the text editor is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It aims at further consolidating linguistic-communicative skills (advanced level) and methodological, historical-linguistic, and analytic competences as applied to Spanish literary texts, with a special focus on Siglo de Oro (1550-1650) theatre. The module is thematically related to the unit “El teatro español entre dramaturgia y representación” and provides students with the required philological tools necessary to the creation of a critical edition: general overview, history of the textual transmission, determination of the critical edition, annotations, variants apparatus, etc. Through the unit, students will acquire both highly advanced autonomous critical competence and the skills involved in the realisation of a complex editorial product, which can be used for other chronological and cultural domains. At the end of the module, students will be able to: prepare a critical edition of a text with philological-linguistic and historical-literary annotations thus applying theories and tools acquired during the unit; communicate module contents (advanced level).

Graduates in Languages and Literatures for Teaching and Translation obtain advanced knowledge and understanding in all the subject areas of their training in order to 1) consolidate and develop their competence in European and American Studies, with particular attention to their literature of specialisation; 2) deepen their knowledge of the two foreign languages chosen, achieving a heightened competence in the language of specialization and an advancement in the second language; 3) reach enhanced awareness of the linguistic features of their language of specialisation, both from a diachronic and a synchronic perspective; 4) reach an adequate knowledge of the most advanced methodologies for the analysis of literary texts; 5) handle confidently the theoretical-practical tools for teaching and for translation.
Working and reworking the literary text is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It aims at consolidating the students’ ability to analyse and interpret literary texts in order to understand the ongoing changes in the Anglo-American canon. Classes focus on text analysis and the study of the ideological processes underlying both the dissemination and critical success of a literary work or genre. The module also allows students to further enhance their linguistic and communicative skills as well as their methodological competence in order to attain full critical awareness and autonomy. At the end of the module students will be able to: communicate at an advanced level the disciplinary content; apply their knowledge and competence to the analysis of intertextual dynamics and translation processes.
Requirements: Students must have already taken North American literatures and visual cultures.

Literatur, Theater, Kino und visuelle Künste/ Literature, theatre, cinema and visual arts is one of the characterising modules of the programme. The aim of the course is to refine the ability to understand and critically analyse literary texts and to carry out bibliographical research drawing on primary and secondary sources; to communicate disciplinary content at an advanced level; and to deepen linguistic-communicative skills in the German language. At the end of the module students will be able to: analyse with greater competence the themes and phenomena of the history of German-language literature understood in its multiple relations with the history of other media such as theatre, cinema and the visual arts; develop practical and theoretical skills at an advanced level with reference to the analysis of literature as part of a more general history of the media.
Requirements: Students must have already taken Literatur und Intermedialität/ Literature and intermediality.

Русская Литература (XVIII-XXI Вв.): Жанры И / Russian literature (XVIII-XXI centuries): Genres and forms of modern and contemporary Russian literature is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It provides students with specialised skills for an understanding of the different literary genres, consolidating a methodological approach to the analysis of literary texts. Special attention will be given to intertextual relations within a common cultural tradition, considering also deviations from the canon and phenomena of hybridisation. At the same time, the module will sharpen students’ ability to apply philological and critical tools to the analysis of texts belonging to different periods, also with a view to planning teaching units. At the end of the module students will be able to: identify literary genres and the attendant features; analyse literary texts from a threefold intertextual, philological and didactic perspective.

Русская Литература: Темы И/ Russian literature: topics, thematic and critical paths is one of the characterising modules of the programme. It aims to consolidate language skills and sharpen specialised tools for a critical engagement with literary texts and phenomena. Student’s autonomy is pursued in the selection and application of critical approaches to the monographic topic of the module. At the same time, translation abilities will be enhanced, with a focus on both literary and specialised texts. The latter will include written (e.g. review, abstract, essay, comment), oral (e.g. presentation to the class, oral report) and digital (e.g. teaching platforms, blogs…) genres, with the knowledge acquired applicable to either research or professional practice. At the end of the module students will be able to: critically engage with texts both from a linguistic-literary perspective and for teaching purposes; communicate disicpinary contents at an advanced level.
