An overview of book publishing: history, production, professional skills, market, culture, communication, and information on books.
One of the main threads will be the analysis of recent changes in book publishing, with digitalization, and the evolution of the web.

Students will acquire specialized competences to be applied to methodologies of text analysis of the literatures of English-speaking countries, considered in their transcultural dimension. Students will refine their abilities in independently referring to, and problematizing, updated theoretical frameworks in their analyses of texts and literary phenomena from a cultural and linguistic point of view. They will also be trained to recognize interconnections between literary language and the languages of other forms of expression.

The course aims at analyzing the ways in which the artistic and cultural institutions (museums, art galleries, theatres, cinema, festivals and cultural events) contribute, on the one hand, to produce the carrier of the objects and the artists and, on the other hand, to shape the processes of reception.

The main aim of this teaching is to investigate the constitutive role of language in shaping human nature. The study of the peculiar characters of our species, in fact, has always involved the analysis of the specificities of language. The reflection about the distinctive features of humans is primarily tied to the analysis of the properties that make our species different from all the others: because of the fact that only humans are able to speak (other animals communicate only), language represents an ideal candidate to support the thesis of 'uniqueness' of human beings in the natural world. Starting from the Darwinian tradition, the aim is to show that language, even if set to guarantee the specificity of the humans, cannot justify the claim of the specialty of human nature.

Students will develop specialistic and applied abilities in methodologies for the analysis of texts and literary phenomena in Spain in their cross-cultural dimension, in a wide chronological perspective that permits intertextual comparison and capitalizes knowledge acquired in the previous degree course.

The course aims to provide students with specialized proficiency in methods of analysis of Portuguese and Brazilian texts and literary phenomena. Students will also be expected to develop a stronger grasp of updated and diverse critical and methodological approaches, in order to elaborate adequate parameters for an independent interpretation of literary texts.

The student will acquire specialistic and applied skills in the methods of analysis of texts and literary phenomena of the German speaking countries, in their transcultural dimension and in relation to the didactics of literature. The student will sharpen his ability of using individually the most recent theorical instruments toward a thorough culturological and linguistical analysis of texts and literary phenomena, identifying relations between the language of literature and that of other expressive forms, with particular attention to the didactics of literature.

The course aims at offering the students the thorough knowledge of the Russian Literary Criticism, in particular of semiotic approach. The course aims also at offering the students methodological instruments they need to analyse literary complex and diversified texts. Students will be able to develop autonomously further cultural and literary knowledge and competences of a higher level applying them to other, specific literary texts.
