c - Autonomia di giudizio (making judgements)
I laureati devono essere capaci di:
c1 - utilizzare le loro conoscenze, capacità di comprensione ed abilità nel campo del progetto e della cultura architettonica, integrandole con la comprensione della complessità del reale e con la consapevolezza delle responsabilità sociali ed etiche che questo esercizio comporta;
c2 - maturare una propria autonomia di giudizio nell'esercizio delle proprie conoscenze, capacità di comprensione ed abilità nel campo del progetto e della cultura architettonica, evitandone ogni applicazione meramente meccanica, ripetitiva o tecnicistica.
Il raggiungimento di una libera e consapevole autonomia di giudizio è un obiettivo centrale per un corso di laurea al cui centro sta il progetto architettonico, attività che chiede appunto l'esercizio di responsabili, complesse, e spesso difficili scelte individuali; non per caso il progetto di architettura ed edilizia, anche nei ridotti limiti dimensionali e tipologici accessibili all'architetto "junior", è fra le attività a cui viene attribuito un potenziale rischio sociale.
Tale un obiettivo comunque non può che essere perseguito soltanto attraverso un complesso sistema di procedimenti maieutici: cioè attraverso strategie interdisciplinari, confronto fra opinioni, pratiche di discussione e comunicazione, piuttosto che attraverso l'insegnamento di singole discipline.
Per questo, innanzi tutto, il presente corso di laurea è fortemente strutturato per far interagire l'attività progettuale sia con discipline miranti ad una seria preparazione metodologica, conoscitiva, scientifica e sociologica, sia con discipline che promuovano un arco di riflessioni più generalmente culturale e umanistico: qui vale in particolare il ruolo delle discipline storiche (o storico-critiche), che assumono necessariamente un carattere eminentemente formativo piuttosto che informativo.
Poi ancora concorrono a questo obiettivo ed implicitamente alla sua valutazione (o, meglio, autovalutazione):
- la pratica di discussioni collettive dei risultati progettuali, applicata in tutti i laboratori;
- la pratica dell'esposizione finale dei progetti in mostre pubbliche;
- la pubblicità della discussione delle tesi di laurea;
- l'uso di strumenti in rete per la comunicazione e la discussione dei lavori progettuali in itinere.
- la frequente programmazione di conferenze e "lectures" di docenti, critici e professionisti di valore nazionale ed internazionale;
- l'interazione e lo scambio di esperienze fra più corsi (di laurea, magistrali, di perfezionamento, master) nella stessa facoltà;
- gli scambi Erasmus, i viaggi di studio, ecc.;
- lo sviluppo e l'incentivo di sistemi di valutazione dei corsi e di iniziative di discussione da parte degli studentiAbilità comunicative
d - Abilità comunicative (communication skills)
Il presente corso di laurea si attende che i propri laureati debbano saper comunicare a interlocutori specialisti e non specialisti in modo chiaro e privo di ambiguità (sia sul piano verbale e letterario, che su quello tecnico: cioè attraverso tutti gli strumenti grafici, informatici e mediatici propri della cultura architettonica contemporanea) le loro idee, le loro ragioni, i loro progetti e ricerche.
A quest'obiettivo, sul versante della comunicazione tecnica, sono dedicati alcuni corsi e/o moduli, specialmente rivolti a fornire strumenti ed aggiornamenti sul piano del disegno, della rappresentazione e del rilievo (con modalità sia tradizionali che informatiche).
Queste attività didattiche, che procedono alla valutazione dei risultati con le modalità descritte più sopra, sono supportate da vari laboratori applicativi attivati dalla Facoltà: si tratta in particolare di un laboratorio informatico, dotato di software ed hardware adeguati e di un laboratorio modelli (ad ambedue i laboratori applicativi sono connessi corsi opzionali per l'addestramento e l'aggiornamento strumentale).
Sul versante della comunicazione scritta e verbale, il corso di laurea si affida:
- alla richiesta, avanzata da quasi tutti i corsi teorici e nei laboratori, di presentazioni scritte (tesine, ricerche, curricula ragionati e critici delle proprie attività, ecc.), intese come elementi essenziali per la valutazione dei risultati specifici e delle abilità comunicative;
- all'utilizzazione generalizzata, soprattutto nella sede dei laboratori progettuali (in itinere ed all'esame), di articolate e complete presentazioni pubbliche orali (con o senza supporti informatici) delle proprie proposizioni progettuali o teoriche; anche questa pratica è intesa come essenziale elemento di valutazioneCapacità di apprendimento
e - Capacità di apprendimento (learning skills)
Il presente corso di laurea si attende che i propri laureati debbano aver sviluppato capacità di apprendimento ed abilità progettuali tali da permetter loro un costante aggiornamento e un reale progresso conoscitivo nell'esercizio di una professione che (oggi in particolare) è soggetta a un rapidissimo processo di modificazione strutturale.
Si attende altresì ( vedi anche il descrittore b) che i propri laureati abbiano sviluppato una profonda ed autonoma consapevolezza nella scelta di quali eventuali studi successivi intraprendere, per perfezionare il proprio curriculum in vista di attività professionali (o di ricerca) più evolute ed avanzate.
Tali studi successivi, nel caso dell'architettura, sono costituiti prima di tutto dai corsi di laurea magistrali in classe 4M, o da molti omologhi "masters" attivati in Europa (il cui completamento costituisce la condizione essenziale per l'accesso alla professione di "architetto europeo") nonché dai successivi corsi di perfezionamento, masters e dottorati.
Vanno poi menzionati, nel campo delle discipline ed attività affini all'architettura, numerosi corsi di laurea magistrali italiani ed europei, nel campo della pianificazione, del paesaggio, del design, delle arti ecc: tutti corsi verso attività professionali non normate (o diversamente normate da quella dell'architetto), che comunque trovano nel presente corso di laurea un'indispensabile base formativa.
La strategia didattica messa in atto per puntare a tali obiettivi si può riassumere in un solo punto essenziale: l'integrazione, presente in tutti gli aspetti e momenti del corso di laurea, fra formazione, autoformazione ed informazione.
In sintesi, e facendo riferimento a quanto è stato scritto per i precedenti descrittori, tale strategia vede come punti essenziali:
- l'interdisciplinarità, presente sia all'interno alle singole unità didattiche che nella complessiva articolazione del corso;
- l'interazione tra fasi operative e fasi di riflessione culturale;
- l'accentuazione della responsabilità autocritica nella pratica del progetto;
- l'aggiornamento prodotto dal (e cercato nel) confronto di diverse esperienze.
Il criterio essenziale per la valutazione del raggiungimento di questo obiettivo sta nello spazio che viene dato, istitutivamente, all'autonoma espressione e discussione delle proprie proposizioni, motivazioni e proposte progettuali, che (vedi il descrittore d) ha una così gran parte nello svolgimento e nell'esame dei corsi teorici e progettuali, nonché nello svolgimento e presentazione della tesi di laureaRequisiti di ammissione
L'ammissione al Corso di Studio è programmata a livello nazionale ed è regolamentata da appositi Decreti Ministeriali, essendo tale Corso finalizzato alla formazione di architetto ai sensi della direttiva 85/384/CEE.
In linea generale tali DM richiedono la dimostrazione di conoscenze di logica e cultura generale, storia, disegno e rappresentazione, matematica e fisica, e competenze disciplinari, riferite alla specificità degli studi di Architettura.
Per eventuali modalità di recupero degli Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi si rimanda al Regolamento Didattico.
Prova finale
Lo studente dovrà produrre, in accordo con il proprio docente tutor, un portfolio che sintetizzi il percorso della propria esperienza di studio con allegato un approfondimento specifico, teorico e/o applicativo, di una delle tematiche chiave emergenti dal portfolio.
Nel corso della prova finale lo studente dovrà presentare alla commissione d'esame, e discutere con essa, le competenze professionali acquisite, le attitudini maturate e gli interessi coltivati in relazione a un eventuale impegno di studio successivo, i momenti del proprio percorso che egli ritiene più significativi (cercando di evidenziare il livello di sintesi delle conoscenze disciplinari raggiunto).
Orientamento in ingresso
Le azioni di orientamento in ingresso sono improntate alla realizzazione di processi di raccordo con la scuola media secondaria.
Si concretizzano in attività di carattere informativo sul Corso di Studio (CdS) del Dipartimento: in particolare, nell'ambito delle Giornate di Vita Universitaria (GVU) che si svolgono nel periodo gennaio/febbraio, il Dipartimento organizza una giornata di orientamento per gli studenti dell'ultimo anno delle scuole medie superiori.
La collaborazione tra Scuola e Università si attua anche nell'ambito del Progetto Lauree Scientifiche che vede, da diversi anni, alcuni docenti del nostro Dipartimento svolgere corsi all'interno delle scuole.
Inoltre, gli uffici dell'Area Didattica del Dipartimento ricevono quotidianamente studenti e familiari fornendo loro informazioni utili all'orientamento.
Il sito http://architettura.uniroma3.it permette l'accesso ad ogni informazione specifica o generale riguardo l'offerta didattica (dagli avvisi, agli orari, ai contenuti culturali dei programmi didattici) e riguardo le attività didattico-culturali (promosse da docenti e studenti nell'ambito del Dipartimento, ovvero attivate all'esterno, ma attinenti agli interessi dei CdS); è disponibile un'ampia documentazione delle tesi di laurea.
Le attività di orientamento, tirocinio, stage e placement, a livello di Ateneo, sono promosse e coordinate dal Gruppo di Lavoro per l’Orientamento di Ateneo (GLOA) costituito dal Delegato del Rettore per le politiche di orientamento, con ruolo di coordinatore, da due delegati dei Direttori per ciascun Dipartimento, un Delegato dei Presidenti per le due Scuole e dalla Responsabile della Divisione Politiche per gli Studenti.
Il GLOA promuove azioni relative all’orientamento in ingresso, all’orientamento in itinere (tutorato, tirocini e stage) e all’orientamento in uscita (politiche attive per il lavoro e placement).
Le azioni di orientamento in ingresso sono improntate alla realizzazione di processi di raccordo con la scuola media secondaria.
Si concretizzano in attività di carattere informativo sui Corsi di Studio (CdS) dell’Ateneo ma anche come impegno condiviso da Scuola e Università per favorire lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza da parte degli studenti nel compiere scelte coerenti con le proprie conoscenze, competenze, attitudini e interessi.
Le attività promosse si articolano in:
a) seminari e attività formative realizzate in collaborazione con i docenti della scuola;
b) incontri e manifestazioni informative rivolte alle future matricole;
c) sviluppo di servizi on line per l’orientamento e l’auto-orientamento.
Tra le attività svolte in collaborazione con le scuole per lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza nella scelta, il “progetto di auto-orientamento” è un intervento significativo che consente di promuovere un raccordo particolarmente qualificato con alcune scuole medie superiori che insistono sul territorio limitrofo a Roma Tre.
Il progetto, infatti, è articolato in incontri svolti presso le scuole dagli esperti dell’Ufficio Orientamento con la collaborazione di studenti seniores ed è finalizzato a sollecitare nelle future matricole una riflessione sui propri punti di forza e sui criteri di scelta (gli incontri si svolgono nel periodo ottobre-dicembre).
La presentazione dell’offerta formativa agli studenti delle scuole superiori prevede tre eventi principali, distribuiti nel corso dell’anno accademico, ai quali partecipano tutti i CdS.
• Salone dello studente “Campus orienta”, si svolge presso la fiera di Roma fra ottobre e novembre e coinvolge tradizionalmente tutti gli Atenei del Lazio e molti Atenei fuori Regione, Enti pubblici e privati che si occupano di Formazione e Lavoro.
Roma Tre partecipa a questo evento con un proprio spazio espositivo e con conferenze di presentazione dell’offerta formativa dell’Ateneo.
• Le Giornate di Vita Universitaria (GVU) si svolgono ogni anno da gennaio a marzo e sono rivolte agli studenti degli ultimi due anni della scuola secondaria superiore.
Si svolgono in tutti i Dipartimenti dell’Ateneo e costituiscono una importante occasione per le future matricole per vivere la realtà universitaria.
Gli incontri sono strutturati in modo tale che accanto alla presentazione dei CdS, gli studenti possano anche fare un’esperienza diretta di vita universitaria con la partecipazione ad attività didattiche, laboratori, lezioni o seminari, alle quali partecipano anche studenti seniores che svolgono una significativa mediazione di tipo tutoriale.
Partecipano annualmente oltre 6.000 studenti delle secondarie.
• Orientarsi a Roma Tre rappresenta la manifestazione che chiude le annuali attività di orientamento in ingresso e si svolge in Ateneo a luglio di ogni anno.
L’evento accoglie mediamente circa 3.000 studenti romani e non solo, che partecipano per mettere definitivamente a fuoco la loro scelta universitaria.
Oltre all’offerta formativa sono presentati tutti i principali servizi di Roma Tre rivolti agli studenti e le segreterie didattiche sono a disposizione per tutte le informazioni relative alle pratiche di immatricolazione.
In tutte le manifestazioni di presentazione dell’offerta formativa, sono illustrati anche i vari servizi on line che possono aiutare gli studenti nella scelta: dai siti web dei Dipartimenti al sito del POS (Prove di Orientamento Simulate) che consente alle future matricole di autovalutarsi rispetto ai requisiti di accesso per tutti i CdS di Roma Tre.
Infine, in tutte le manifestazioni che si svolgono in Ateneo sono somministrati ai partecipanti questionari di soddisfazione che vengono elaborati ed utilizzati per proporre miglioramenti all’organizzazione degli eventi.
Il Corso di Studio in breve
Il Corso di Laurea triennale in Scienze dell'Archittetura è costituito da un'equilibrata, colta ed attenta combinazione delle componenti essenziali (scientifiche, umanistiche, storiche e strumentali) della cultura architettonica.
Tutte le materie affrontano sia aspetti teorici che aspetti applicativi, mentre l'indagine progettuale, il vero catalizzatore dell'insegnamento, mette alla prova ed affina cognizioni convergenti o interrelate.
L'obiettivo primario è quello di costituire una solida formazione di base per la prosecuzione degli studi in architettura (presso Roma Tre o presso un'altra sede italiana o europea); per questo il corso è concepito con un forte grado di compatibilità con tutti gli omologhi corsi in Scienze dell'Archittetura.
Un diverso, ma altrettanto importante, obiettivo formativo è quello di fornire basi culturali articolate e utili anche a tutti coloro che non intendano proseguire quegli studi: cioè a chi intende accedere direttamente alle molteplici prospettive professionali dell'edilizia, ovvero a chi intende proseguire altrove percorsi di studi diversamente orientati: master di 1° livello, lauree magistrali in Design, Paesaggio, Conservazione, Pianificazione, Arti ecc.
L'ammissione al Corso di Laurea è regolamentata da un Decreto Ministeriale, ai sensi della direttiva 85/384/CEE e successive modifiche, che fissa modalità e caratteristiche della prova di ammissione e numero di posti disponibili.
Lo studente espliciterà le proprie scelte al momento della presentazione,
tramite il sistema informativo di ateneo, del piano di completamento o del piano di studio individuale,
secondo quanto stabilito dal regolamento didattico del corso di studio.

The course proposes an overview of the architecture of the past, providing tools to analyze and understand the historical reasons and assess its quality. To this end, students are asked to examine the architectures selected focusing on the reasons of their construction in a specific time and place, what were the objectives of the client, the builder and the architect, how and why certain techniques and specific materials have been chosen, what relationship these buildings have with the architectures of the past and those contemporary to them, considering how these aspects are related to each other, reconstructing the design process, when it is sufficiently documented. In the first year the chosen buildings are the ones deemed most significant, including during the time span from the classical age extended to the sixteenth century.

MATHEMATICAL DRAWING MACHINES: HISTORIC DRAWING FROM A PARAMETRIC POINT OF VIEW
(objectives)
The goal of this course is to underline the existing relations, between graphic and analytic representation, by a contemporary approach to the disciplines of drawing and mathematics. The graphic construction of a curve with ruler and compass will be followed by the analytical representation with parametric ad cartesian equations. Then the construction of historical drawing instruments will follow. The interdisciplinary goals of this course are: develop the attitude of students to understand and foresee the features of a figurative project on a two-dimensional support, from the beginning of its initial representation; provide scientific and cultural basis to handle digital modelling; strengthen their ability to integrate knowledge coming from different disciplines.

THE COURSE IS DIRECTED TO TRAINING FOR THE DIRECTORATE OF WORKS, DIRECTORATE FOR CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE ROLE OF SAFETY COORDINATOR AT RUN TIME, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO THE PRODUCTION STAGE IN THE CONSTRUCTION SITE. Purpose of this course is to provide students, in a synthetic manner, a good knowledge of all aspects which concern the application of the Naval Architecture in the context of the design with particular reference to the control of the internal space, to the ratio between the hull and the deck and ergonomics.
The complexity and interdependence of the topic with many other disciplines makes this area one of the most fertile areas of design research in a variety of aspects: one related to the shape and performance as well as that relating to technology and construction.

The course of Complements on design of timber structures, Proff Camillo Nuti e Silvia Santini, involves the participation of experts in timber structures. The main focus is the acquisition of basic knowledge about the mechanical behavior of timber used as construction material and of the main elements and structural systems made with it. Basic tools for evaluation of the structural safety and design criteria for structural elements, aimed to simplified constructions design. To this aim is required the development of a simple design of a timber foot bridge.

The aim of this course is to develope rethinking the relations among Housing design and the most innovative experiences -less or more present in the contemporary practice- which have been introduced in design methods, building technologies, constructive solutions. Lectures will deal with case studies from some of the "masters" of the XX century and will focus on these issues: 1- neighborhood units in the co-housing projects; 2-requalification of public Housing schemes either for tenants or in case of ownership; 3-how to build for the emergency in poor countries; 4-building rules, prefabrication, flexibility; 5-experimental projects for energy saving; 6-transformability of the Housing structures; 7-how to take advantages from houses as prototypes. Bibliography is very wide and students will be informed according to the sequence of the theoretical approach to the matter.

The goal of this course is to underline the existing relations, between graphic and analytic representation, by a contemporary approach to the disciplines of drawing and mathematics. The graphic construction of a curve with ruler and compass will be followed by the analytical representation with parametric ad cartesian equations. Then the construction of historical drawing instruments will follow. The class introduces students to complexity in Architectural Design. The class proposes and explains the digital means, the procedures, the uses and the organization of contemporary Design Offices mroe oriented toward innovation and integration of different instances in the design. The class is oriented as a small Laboratory, even is its results are evaluated in the understanding of the theory and the new concepts introduced. Students produce a series of small designs, based on the direct experimentation of digital procedures in BIM software, conceived in its parametric core identity. So there is a strict relationship between technology introduced and design topics, thanks to a careful selection and filter of the proposed functions. The basic assumption of the class is that there is a strict need of facing new technologies, deeply understanding them and their power, but in a day to day effort to engage them in a design based thinking. The aim is to prepare students to a mindset that is fruitful in the contemporary professional and cultural context.

FUNDALMENTALS OF STRUCTURAL MECHANICS
(objectives)
To provide knowledge of the rudiments of mechanics for rigid body and the beam models, with application to simple cases of isostatic and hyperstatic systems articulated in two dimensions. Course topics are in particular: introduction of rigid body kinematics and concepts of constraints; distributions, equivalence and reduction of systems of forces; the balance equations and the methods of calculations of reaction forces; the beam model kinematics linea rizzata; the contact actions; the balance equations; the Navier formula; the resolution of simple isostatic and hyperstatic systems.

The course aims to make students aware of the complex interactions between land, environment and landscape. Interactions that are present since the genesis of urban settlements and that characterize and qualify today, human action in the government of its habitat. The initial part of the course aims to introduce the study of the urban phenomenon and the functioning mechanisms of cities and territories in time, between "history" and "historical geography".
The course will develop the themes of urban and territorial transformations that affected Italy since 1900, the renewal of the purposes and forms of the instruments of government land, the current trends and design issues that permeate the search for greater quality settlements and urban sustainability.
The second part of the course is devoted to the architecture of open spaces, in its historical and current evolution, and provides a framework of knowledge related to historical, composition, figurative and environmental disciplines, in close relationship with the architectural design and the urban project. Main objectives are to transmit awareness of the complexity and richness of relationships that exist between the shape of the landscape and the technical, functional and expressive reasons that determine it in time.
