Nell'ambito delle proprie competenze i laureati saranno in grado di assumere decisioni autonome in progetti anche di grandi dimensioni e di partecipare attivamente alle responsabilità di decisione in contesti multidisciplinari.
Tale obiettivo sarà perseguito tramite i corsi di insegnamento ad orientamento progettuale e la tesi di laurea magistrale e sarà verificato con gli esami di profitto e l'esame di laurea magistrale.Abilità comunicative
I laureati magistrali saranno in grado di comunicare in maniera efficace le proprie idee e interagire su argomenti e tematiche sia strettamente disciplinari che interdisciplinari, anche ad alto livello.
Tale obiettivo sarà perseguito attraverso gli esami, gli eventuali tirocinii e la prova finale di laurea e sarà verificato con gli esami di profitto e l'esame di laurea magistrale.Capacità di apprendimento
I laureati saranno in grado di aggiornarsi professionalmente in maniera autonoma, mentre gli studenti migliori e più motivati potranno procedere anche nel campo della ricerca scientifica.
Tale obiettivo sarà perseguito attraverso l'introduzione di componenti seminariali, di ricerca bibliografica e di elementi di ricerca scientifica all'interno di specifici corsi di insegnamento e attraverso la tesi di laurea magistrale.
Sarà verificato attraverso i relativi esami di profitto e l'esame di laurea magistrale.Requisiti di ammissione
Per l'accesso alla Laurea magistrale in Ingegneria delle tecnologie della comunicazione e dell'informazione è richiesto il possesso delle lauree di primo livello nelle Classi dell' Ingegneria dell'Informazione (di cui al D.M.509/1999 o D.M.270/2004) con riconoscimento integrale dei 180 crediti previsti nel piano di studi di primo livello.
Le modalità per la verifica delle conoscenze richieste per l'accesso saranno definite all'interno del Regolamento Didattico.
E' inoltre richiesto allo studente di essere capace di comunicare efficacemente, in forma scritta e orale, in almeno una lingua europea diversa dall'italiano.
Il riconoscimento dell'idoneità linguistica è effettuato sulla base del superamento di prove di verifica effettuate presso il Centro Linguistico di Ateneo di Roma Tre o dell'Ateneo di provenienza, come specificato nel Regolamento Didattico del Corso di laurea Magistrale.Prova finale
La prova finale si realizza attraverso la presentazione e discussione di una relazione scritta avente per oggetto un progetto originale sviluppato dallo studente in modo autonomo sotto la guida di relatori e co-relatori nominati dal collegio didattico.Orientamento in ingresso
Le azioni di orientamento in ingresso sono improntate alla realizzazione di processi di raccordo con la scuola media secondaria.
Si concretizzano in attività di carattere informativo sui Corsi di Studio (CdS) dell'Ateneo ma anche come impegno condiviso da scuola e università per favorire lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza da parte degli studenti nel compiere scelte coerenti con le proprie conoscenze, competenze, attitudini e interessi.
Le attività promosse si articolano in:
a) autorientamento;
b) incontri e manifestazioni informative rivolte alle future matricole;
c) sviluppo di servizi online e pubblicazione di guide sull'offerta formativa dei CdS.
Tra le attività svolte in collaborazione con le scuole per lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza nella scelta, il progetto di autorientamento è un intervento che consente di promuovere un raccordo particolarmente qualificato con alcune scuole medie superiori.
Il progetto, infatti, è articolato in incontri svolti presso le scuole ed è finalizzato a sollecitare nelle future matricole una riflessione sui propri punti di forza e sui criteri di scelta.
La presentazione dell'offerta formativa agli studenti delle scuole superiori prevede tre eventi principali distribuiti nel corso dell'anno accademico ai quali partecipano tutti i CdS.
• Salone dello studente, si svolge presso la fiera di Roma fra ottobre e novembre e coinvolge tradizionalmente tutti gli Atenei del Lazio e molti Atenei fuori Regione, Enti pubblici e privati che si occupano di Formazione e Lavoro.
Roma Tre partecipa a questo evento con un proprio spazio espositivo, con conferenze di presentazione dell'offerta formativa dell'Ateneo e promuove i propri Dipartimenti scientifici grazie all'iniziativa Roma 1,2,3 … Scienze;
• Giornate di Vita Universitaria (GVU), si svolgono ogni anno da dicembre a marzo e sono rivolte agli studenti degli ultimi due anni della scuola secondaria superiore.
Si svolgono in tutti i Dipartimenti dell'Ateneo e costituiscono un'importante occasione per le future matricole per vivere la realtà universitaria.
Gli incontri sono strutturati in modo tale che accanto alla presentazione dei Corsi di Laurea, gli studenti possano anche fare un'esperienza diretta di vita universitaria con la partecipazione ad attività didattiche, laboratori, lezioni o seminari, alle quali partecipano anche studenti seniores che svolgono una significativa mediazione di tipo tutoriale.
Partecipano annualmente circa 5.000 studenti;
• Orientarsi a Roma Tre, rappresenta la manifestazione che chiude le annuali attività di orientamento in ingresso e si svolge in Ateneo a luglio di ogni anno.
L'evento accoglie, perlopiù, studenti romani che partecipano per mettere definitivamente a fuoco la loro scelta universitaria.
Durante la manifestazione viene presentata l'offerta formativa e sono presenti, con un proprio spazio, tutti i principali servizi di Roma Tre, le segreterie didattiche e la segreteria studenti.
I servizi online messi a disposizione dei futuri studenti universitari nel tempo sono aumentati tenendo conto dello sviluppo delle nuove opportunità di comunicazione tramite web.
Inoltre, durante tutte le manifestazioni di presentazione dell'offerta formativa, sono illustrati quei servizi online (siti web di Dipartimento, di Ateneo, Portale dello studente etc.) che possono aiutare gli studenti nella loro scelta.
Il Corso di Studio in breve
Il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria delle tecnologie della comunicazione e dell'informazione è finalizzato alla formazione di un Ingegnere in grado di gestire l'intero ciclo di vita sia di apparati e di sistemi, sia di servizi ad alto valore aggiunto, connessi con l'acquisizione, il trattamento, la consultazione da remoto, la trasmissione e la diffusione delle informazioni in un'ampia varietà di modi e di forme, garantendo livelli adeguati di sicurezza e riservatezza.
A tal fine l'Ingegnere magistrale in tecnologie della comunicazione e dell'informazione dovrà essere in grado di svolgere sia attività complesse di progettazione sia attività direzionali di pianificazione, organizzazione, guida, coordinamento e controllo connesse con la produzione di beni e l'erogazione di servizi del settore delle Tecnologie della comunicazione e dell'informazione.
Dovrà essere, pertanto, in grado di identificare, formulare e risolvere, in modo innovativo ed economico e con approccio interdisciplinare, problemi di pianificazione, progettazione, ingegnerizzazione, produzione e monitoraggio delle prestazioni, sia tecniche che economiche, di componenti, dispositivi, apparati, sistemi e servizi connessi con il trattamento e la trasmissione dell'informazione.
Al termine del ciclo di studi dovrà conoscere approfonditamente le teorie, le metodologie, le tecniche e le tecnologie specifiche dell'Ingegneria dei campi elettromagnetici e delle telecomunicazioni, oltre alle teorie e metodologie matematiche, le scienze fisiche ed ingegneristiche, con particolare riguardo all'area dell'ingegneria dell'informazione, alle tecnologie elettromagnetiche, elettroniche, informatiche, alle tecniche di organizzazione aziendale, alle teorie e metodologie per l'analisi di mercato e le valutazioni economiche relative a beni e servizi connessi con la trasmissione e la diffusione delle informazioni.
Lo studente espliciterà le proprie scelte al momento della presentazione,
tramite il sistema informativo di ateneo, del piano di completamento o del piano di studio individuale,
secondo quanto stabilito dal regolamento didattico del corso di studio.

The course aims to provide a capacity for rational and systematic framework for ict security issues and tools available, including a preliminary capacity assessment of costs / benefits. Cloud systems security is also analyzed. The course will also touch on the the mathematical concepts needed in undertanding and possibly contructing cryptosystems and protocols, particularly in the realm of public-key cryptography.

Finally, the student is supposed to understand the main economic and technical drivers of the internet evoulution.

(objectives)
For introduction to cryptography: give an introduction to cryptography useful for understanding present-day innovations; explain the mathematical notions instrumental in the design of cryptographic algorithms and interest the students in the applications. The course aims to provide the tools for analyzing the security in telecommunication systems. The theoretical foundations, real implementation, systems for measuring the effectiveness of existing networks, security models are introduced during the course.
The problem of security in networked systems is introduced in, with reference to the cryptographic algorithms, protocols and standards. The course aims to provide a capacity for rational and systematic framework for ict security issues and tools available, including a preliminary capacity assessment of costs / benefits. Cloud systems security is also analyzed. The course will also touch on the the mathematical concepts needed in undertanding and possibly contructing cryptosystems and protocols, particularly in the realm of public-key cryptography.

The software defined radio (sdr) technology as well as the open standards will provide a dramatic cost reduction and a proliferation of wireless radio-applications for every aspect of our modern life. The course aims to provide students with advanced signal processing in the field of software radio. In particular, during the course the student will learn to connect the different blocks of a complex system in a single set of integrated and interdependent processes. In addition, the course will provide an overview of some telecommunications systems, briefly describing the radio key-concepts.

The course provides basic elements for the understanding of economic phenomena characteristic of telecommunication markets. It provides an overview on the historical evolution of the information and communication market, with details on the areas of media and information and communication technologies (ICT), and on the effects that these latter have in modern society. Specific attention is devoted to regulatory aspects currently in force in these areas, and on the issues associate to regulation. Elements of "net economy" are also proposed, and future enabling technologies discussed. Basic elements concerning management, organization and business planning are also described.

The goal of the course is to illustrate the modern solutions to the management of big data, very large repositories of de-structured data. Starting from the requirements of modern database applications, the course will illustrate the hardware and software architectures that have been recently proposed for the management and analysis of big data. The topics addressed in the course will include: cluster architectures, map-reduce paradigm, cloud computing, NoSQL systems, tools and languages for data analysis. Both theoretical and practical aspects will be addressed and the discussed technologies will be experimented during practical classes and through the assignment of projects.

(objectives)
Antennas are fundamental components of modern wireless communication systems for smart environments such as pervasive systems for distributed information and computing, advanced space systems, intelligent transportation systems. This course aims at providing a selection of advanced topics in antenna engineering, including analytical and numerical techniques: theory and applications of periodic structures; resonant and traveling-wave antennas for terrestrial and space communication systems; smart and MIMO antenna arrays; numerical techniques based on differential formulations (finite differences in time and frequency) and on boundary integral formulations (method of moments); the main commercial CAD tools for antennas based on the above numerical techniques will also be illustrated.

The course will provide tools for the analysis of big data (audio, video, text) generated by modern information and communication systems and related services. Skills stemming from computer science, statistics and optimization will be introduced to provide the means for understanding, designing and implementing methods capable of managing complex amounts of data, and transforming them into useful and semantically relevant information. Topics to be discussed will include advanced principles of information theory (sparse coding, compressive sensing, random matrix), principles of statistical inference, methodologies for clustering the observed data, predictive analytics, and principles of constrained optimization based on elements of game theory.
