The course Theory of Computation and Interaction provides a in-deep view of theoretical aspects related to the concept of computation and the study of relations between different models of computation. The basic knowledge on information technology is here extended with new concepts and theoretical viewpoints. The course is divided into two units of 6 CFU. At choice, the student can decide to pass the first unit or both (12 CFU). More specifically, the course provides a formal presentation of the concepts of algorithm and computability. After the introduction of the classical concept of computability as formalized by Alan M. Turing, we address the basic concepts of algorithmic complexity and problem decidability, functional models and functional programming. In the second unit, we focus on interactive paradigms in the theory of computation which allow the description of additional complexity classes and their use in the semantics of programming languages.

The course aims at analyzing the ways in which the artistic and cultural institutions (museums, art galleries, theatres, cinema, festivals and cultural events) contribute, on the one hand, to produce the carrier of the objects and the artists and, on the other hand, to shape the processes of reception.

THE TEACHING FACCES THE DIFFICULT CONCEPT OF "MEANING" , PARTICULARLY REFERING TO THE STUDIES ABOUT MIND AND HUMAN COGNITION; FIRST OF ALL, THE STUDY OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THOUGHT AND LANGUAGE. tHE ANALISYS CONSIDER THE CLASSIC DIFFERENT REFLECTIONS ABOUT LANGUAGE (THEORY OF MEANING, LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE, ABILITY OF REFERENCE) FROM A CLASSIC OF '60, THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCHES IN EMPIRIC SCIENCES ( NEUROSCIENCES, COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY, COGNITIVE ETHOLOGY) THAT ANIMATE THE DEBATE OF CONTEMPORARY COGNITIVE SCIENCE. THE PROJECT " NATURALIZATION OF MIND" REPRESENTS THE THEORICAL BACKGROUND OF TEACHING, WITH AN EVOLUTIONISTIC POINT OF VIEW.

The aim of the course is for each student to be able to articulate the basic problems examined, to describe some possible solutions to those problems, and to evaluate those solutions critically.

This course deals with the most relevant ethical issues connected to the great development of mass media in our contemporary society. Its intent is to highlight the "cognitive and behavioural metamorphosis" brought about by the new media.

The course aims to illustrate the relationship between philosophy, art and cinema in the thought of Gilles Deleuze, focusing in particular on the concepts of “movement-image” and “time-image”.

Our goal is to let the students know origins and history of rhetoric and its theoretical, methodological and terminological system, so that students themselves in the end can use on their turn the means of rhetoric in an autonomous and creative way.

The study of the peculiar characters of our species, in fact, has always involved the analysis of the specificities of language. The reflection about the distinctive features of humans is primarily tied to the analysis of the properties that make our species different from all the others: because of the fact that only humans are able to speak (other animals communicate only), language represents an ideal candidate to support the thesis of 'uniqueness' of human beings in the natural world. Starting from the Darwinian tradition, the aim is to show that language, even if set to guarantee the specificity of the humans, cannot justify the claim of the specialty of human nature.

The course will introduce the basic concepts in relation to the public communication, and it will provide to the students the analytical tools for analyzing how the public discourse is produced. A special focus will be devoted to the impact of medial texts in the process of formation of the public opinion.

The course aims at illustrating how the historical perspective, the sociolinguistics, the pragmatics and the semiotics can analyze the language of advertising highlighting the lexical, syntactic and morphological features and the intercultural aspects of different texts.

The course will introduce the basic concepts in relation to the advertising communication, and it will provide to the students the analytical tools for analyzing the advertisements and how they can affect the public discourse. A special focus will be devoted to the analysis and the impact of the culture jamming techniques.

The course aims to give students chance of acquiring analytical skills in order to identify the many factors involved in the dynamics of historical processes and understand their interconnections. The students will also develop a research method and investigation abilities in order to discover the inner complexity of the present age in its historical depth; they will be educated on how to understand otherness disclosing in the study of human events that constitute historical development.

The course aims to give students chance of acquiring analytical skills in order to identify the many factors involved in the dynamics of historical processes and understand their interconnections.
