Nell'ambito dell'area dell'ingegneria delle infrastrutture viarie e dei trasporti, i laureati magistrali saranno in grado di assumere responsabilità decisionali autonome in progetti anche di grandi dimensioni e di partecipare attivamente al processo decisionale in contesti anche interdisciplinari.
Questo obiettivo sarà perseguito attraverso corsi di insegnamento teorici e progettuali, oltre che con la redazione della tesi di laurea magistrale.
Esso sarà verificato attraverso i relativi esami di profitto e l'esame di laurea magistrale.
Abilità comunicative
I laureati magistrali saranno in grado di comunicare efficacemente e interagire sulle tematiche di interesse con interlocutori specialisti e non specialisti, anche di alto livello, in contesti interdisciplinari.
Questo obiettivo sarà perseguito e verificato attraverso gli esami di profitto e l'esame di laurea magistrale.
Capacità di apprendimento
I laureati magistrali avranno sviluppato le basi necessarie per procedere, in maniera autonoma, nell'aggiornamento professionale e nell'approfondimento di studi e ricerche.
Questo obiettivo sarà perseguito e verificato attraverso gli esami di profitto, la tesi di laurea magistrale e le eventuali attività di tirocinio.Requisiti di ammissione
In relazione alla disciplina in vigore per le Lauree Magistrali ( 120 cfu) il Collegio Didattico in Ingegneria Civile ha così individuato le conoscenze minime richieste per l'accesso alla Laurea Magistrale in Infrastrutture viarie e Trasporti:
a) Attività formative di base: 36 cfu dagli ambiti disciplinari "matematica, informatica e statistica" e " fisica e chimica" previsti dal decreto 16 marzo 2007 del MUR per la classe delle Lauree L7 in Ingegneria Civile Ambientale.
b)Attività formative caratterizzanti: 36 cfu dai SSD "Ingegneria civile : ICAR/02, ICAR/04, ICAR/05,ICAR/09" presenti nel decreto 16 marzo 2007 del MUR per la classe delle Lauree L7 in Ingegneria Civile Ambientale, avendo sostenuto almeno un esame per ciascuno dei SSD sopraindicati e, comunque non meno di 18 cfu nei SSD ICAR/04 e ICAR/05.
La valutazione del possesso delle dette conoscenze minime sarà realizzata tramite l'analisi del curriculum presentato e, eventualmente, con un colloquio.Prova finale
La tesi di laurea magistrale, che prevede un contributo originale ed individuale dello studente, potrà essere sviluppata con riferimento ad un contesto professionale avanzato oppure su tematiche di ricerca, sotto la guida di un relatore ed eventualmente di uno o più correlatori, anche in coordinamento con le attività di tirocinio.
La tipologia e le modalità per svolgere il tirocinio sono riportate nel “Regolamento per il tirocinio”.Orientamento in ingresso
Le azioni di orientamento in ingresso sono improntate alla realizzazione di processi di raccordo con la scuola media secondaria.
Si concretizzano in attività di carattere informativo sui Corsi di Studio (CdS) dell'Ateneo ma anche come impegno condiviso da scuola e università per favorire lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza da parte degli studenti nel compiere scelte coerenti con le proprie conoscenze, competenze, attitudini e interessi.
Le attività promosse si articolano in:
a) autorientamento;
b) incontri e manifestazioni informative rivolte alle future matricole;
c) sviluppo di servizi online e pubblicazione di guide sull'offerta formativa dei CdS.
Tra le attività svolte in collaborazione con le scuole per lo sviluppo di una maggiore consapevolezza nella scelta, il progetto di autorientamento è un intervento che consente di promuovere un raccordo particolarmente qualificato con alcune scuole medie superiori.
Il progetto, infatti, è articolato in incontri svolti presso le scuole ed è finalizzato a sollecitare nelle future matricole una riflessione sui propri punti di forza e sui criteri di scelta.
La presentazione dell'offerta formativa agli studenti delle scuole superiori prevede tre eventi principali distribuiti nel corso dell'anno accademico ai quali partecipano tutti i CdS.
• Salone dello studente, si svolge presso la fiera di Roma fra ottobre e novembre e coinvolge tradizionalmente tutti gli Atenei del Lazio e molti Atenei fuori Regione, Enti pubblici e privati che si occupano di Formazione e Lavoro.
Roma Tre partecipa a questo evento con un proprio spazio espositivo, con conferenze di presentazione dell'offerta formativa dell'Ateneo e promuove i propri Dipartimenti scientifici grazie all'iniziativa Roma 1,2,3 … Scienze;
• Giornate di Vita Universitaria (GVU), si svolgono ogni anno da dicembre a marzo e sono rivolte agli studenti degli ultimi due anni della scuola secondaria superiore.
Si svolgono in tutti i Dipartimenti dell'Ateneo e costituiscono un'importante occasione per le future matricole per vivere la realtà universitaria.
Gli incontri sono strutturati in modo tale che accanto alla presentazione dei Corsi di Laurea, gli studenti possano anche fare un'esperienza diretta di vita universitaria con la partecipazione ad attività didattiche, laboratori, lezioni o seminari, alle quali partecipano anche studenti seniores che svolgono una significativa mediazione di tipo tutoriale.
Partecipano annualmente circa 5.000 studenti;
• Orientarsi a Roma Tre, rappresenta la manifestazione che chiude le annuali attività di orientamento in ingresso e si svolge in Ateneo a luglio di ogni anno.
L'evento accoglie, perlopiù, studenti romani che partecipano per mettere definitivamente a fuoco la loro scelta universitaria.
Durante la manifestazione viene presentata l'offerta formativa e sono presenti, con un proprio spazio, tutti i principali servizi di Roma Tre, le segreterie didattiche e la segreteria studenti.
I servizi online messi a disposizione dei futuri studenti universitari nel tempo sono aumentati tenendo conto dello sviluppo delle nuove opportunità di comunicazione tramite web.
Inoltre, durante tutte le manifestazioni di presentazione dell'offerta formativa, sono illustrati quei servizi online (siti web di Dipartimento, di Ateneo, Portale dello studente etc.) che possono aiutare gli studenti nella loro scelta.
Il Collegio Didattico organizza alcuni eventi di orientamento per gli studenti che frequentano il corso di laurea triennale in Ingegneria Civile, nell'ambito dei quali una delegazione di docenti presenta il CdS.
Tipicamente la presentazione è organizzata nel periodo primaverile e offerta sia agli studenti del secondo che del terzo anno.
Nel corso dell'anno accademico una Commissione ad hoc del Corso di Studio si occupa di fornire supporto agli studenti laureati triennali provenienti da altro ateneo.
La commissione:
- valuta i curricula pregressi degli studenti;
- verifica i requisiti di ammissione e gli eventuali debiti formativi;
- propone agli studenti un piano di studi con indicazione:
-su eventuali corsi singoli da sostenere prima della ammissione;
-su scelte di piano di studi individuale per finire di colmare i debiti formativi.
Il Collegio Didattico pubblicizza inoltre le attività specifiche dei propri Corsi di Studio, attraverso il sito web (https://didattica.sic.uniroma3.it/), la pagina Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ingegneriacivileroma3/) e il canale YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIzDXyx06zKxZzV-mwf1XIQ).
Si sottolinea infine come l'esperienza dello studente durante il Corso di Studio triennale in Ingegneria Civile costituisca essa stessa una attività di orientamento significativa ed efficace per una scelta consapevole riguardo alla Laurea Magistrale.Il Corso di Studio in breve
Il corso di studio mira a formare laureati magistrali con solide basi metodologiche e con una elevata qualificazione professionale nell'area dell'Ingegneria delle Infrastrutture Viarie e dei Trasporti, che siano in grado di operare efficacemente nei numerosi settori applicativi che richiedono le competenze, di identificare, formulare e risolvere problemi complessi e/o che richiedano approcci e soluzioni originali per promuovere e gestire l'innovazione tecnologica, nonché per adeguarsi ai rapidi mutamenti tipici dei settori tecnici.
Lo studente espliciterà le proprie scelte al momento della presentazione,
tramite il sistema informativo di ateneo, del piano di completamento o del piano di studio individuale,
secondo quanto stabilito dal regolamento didattico del corso di studio.

Road Materials is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Road Materials is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of road construction materials such as soils, aggregates and binders, both in terms of physical and mechanical characterization and acceptance requirements in road infrastructure design and material selection procedures and protocols. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) verify if a soil, an aggregate and a binder is applicable for road constructions or not and in such case decide if some measures could be applied to modify it and make it feasible for the construction of the road pavements or embankments; 2) characterize physically and mechanically a road material by means of laboratory tests and on site tests; 3) examine and analyse laboratory reports; 4) define procedures and protocols for realizing a road constructions as pavements and embankments.

Road Infrastructure Theory is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Road Infrastructure Theory aims to provide basic skills to understand the issues of the transport infrastructures with reference to road safety. Furthermore, knowledge on the drivers’ behaviour assessment according to the road characteristics and operating conditions is provided. At the end of the course, the students will be able to: 1) assess the road safety conditions; 2) determine the project quality according to the expected accident rate assessed with forecasting techniques; 3) evaluate the effectiveness of adjustments; 4) use and apply road design regulations with knowledge of the variables to be considered.

TRANSPORT PLANNING

Transport Planning is a course related to the Transport Engineering sector, in the Master's Degree of Road Infrastructures and Transport. The main objective of this degree is to train a highly qualified civil engineer able to operate in the sectors of road infrastructures and transport systems. The Transport Planning course aims to provide students with the most advanced knowledge of mathematical models for the representation of transport demand and supply, as well as their related interactions (assignment models), with regard to continuous transport systems (road networks). The course offers a unified framework of these models in order to implement them into a simulation tool for the design and evaluation of transport projects. Students will acquire highly professional and specialized skills on transport planning issues in terms of 1) representation of road networks; 2) representation of the travel demand, both according to a descriptive aggregate approach, as well as a behavioral disaggregated approach; 3) simulation of route choices; 4) identification of flow and speed conditions on links. At the end of the course the students will be able to 1) define the level of representation to be used and the consequent modeling approach according to the project to be realized; 2) calibrate cost functions for the representation of the transport supply; 3) calibrate behavioral disaggregated demand models; 4) evaluate by simulation the effects of a project on a road network.

Numerical and statistical methods for Civil Engineering aims at providing students with fundamental knowledge on numerical and statistical methods for civil engineering problems, and at developing the competences required for designing and coding simple numerical and statistical models, also to learn how apply high level softwares for engineering analysis. The course aims at providing in depth knowledge of 1) a technical/scientific programming language; 2) main numerical methods for the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations; 3) descriptive and inferential statistics. Students shall be able of: 1) using a technical/scientific programming language to develop numerical models and to carry out statistical analyses; 2) designing, developing, validating and applying algorithms for the integration of ordinary and partial differential equations of interest for the civil engineering field; 3) carrying out statistical analysis on large datasets; 4) designing and carrying out statistical analyses; 5) finding and understanding scientific publications for specific problems of interest, also using scientific search engines/databases (Scopus, Web Of Science)

Laboratory of Transport Infrastructure and Severe Hazards is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Laboratory of Transport Infrastructure and Severe Hazards is aimed at providing students with high professional knowledge and understanding of the interferences between transport infrastructure and hazards, determined both by anthropic causes, such as pollution due to accidents, fire hazards,..) or natural events (earthquakes, floods,…). At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) define the most effective procedure for identifying the priority of interventions to protect transport infrastructures by anthropic and natural hazards; 2) develop risk analysis for transport infrastructures; 3) develop in depth analysis and write technical report; 4) define the most effective countermeasures for reducing or eliminating the effects of hazards on transport infrastructures operation and safety.

The main scope of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of environmental engineering. The course belongs to the three-year degree in Civil Engineering, whose aim is to prepare students in civil engineering by providing tools for the design, construction, maintenance and management of civil structures and infrastructures, such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, transport systems, hydraulic works and land protection. Road Materials is also a course of the master degrees in Road Infrastructures and Transport and Civil Engineering for Protection from Natural Risks, whose objective is training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues and protection from hydrogeological and seismic risks, respectively. Within such framework, the course aims at providing students with the basic knowledge and understanding about 1) the biotic and abiotic environment, with references to ecology, chemistry and biology principles; 2) the reference environmental legislation; 3) water, atmosphere and soil quality parameters; 4) the processes of diffusion of pollutants in the environment; 5) treatment techniques. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to 1) evaluate the quality parameters of water, atmosphere and soil in relation to the current legislation 2) analyze the different engineering techniques of water, atmosphere and soil treatment in function of the type of pollutant; 3) basic knowledge of the integrated management of urban solid waste.

Road and Railway Construction Technology is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Road and Railway Construction Technology is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the elements for the scheduling and management of the road/railway construction plans. The main topics concern: the organizational requirements for road/railway works; the road/railway construction management; the equipments for road/railway construction; the effects of road construction work zones on traffic flow; the safety on construction sites; the environmental effects during the infrastructure construction. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) identify the construction stages of the transport infrastructures in compliance with project and contractual documents; 2) define the most appropriate sequence of the construction phases in relation to aims and constraints; 3) implement a control system to detect the progress of the construction process and make corrections if necessary.

Rail, Air and Sea Transport is a course of the Transport sector of the Master's Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. The main objective of this degree is to train a highly qualified civil engineer able to operate in the sectors of road infrastructures and transport systems. Rail, Air and Sea Transport aims to provide students with the most advanced knowledge with regard to the components and management of railway, air and naval systems. The course will provide students with the most advanced knowledge with regard to flow-speed models, to capacity computation for stations and air and sea terminals, as well as for their access infrastructures as railway lines, waterways and runway. Students will acquire highly professional and specialized skills on problems related to the design of rail, air and sea transport systems such as: 1) flow-speed models, 2) timetable of railway lines, 3) computation of capacity of a railway, 4) optimize primary and secondary yard areas in layouts port terminals, 5) optimize models of line services for sea transport, 6) identify models of air traffic management, 7) evaluate the break-even point and load factor for aircraft. Road and Railway Pavements is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. Within this degree, Road and Railway Pavements is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the elements for design, management and maintenance of road and railway pavements. The main topics concern: principles of structural design of flexible and rigid road pavements, the analysis of the surface defects and their effects on road safety and comfort; the analysis of the changes over the time of the defects; maintenance strategies. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) carry out mix design procedures for road pavements using Marshall and volumetric design methods 2) design bituminous and concrete pavement structures by means of empirical and mechanistic design methods 3) perform procedures of quality control for road pavements; 4) characterize the performances of road pavements by means of methods for collecting pavement condition data and indicators; 5) analyze the road pavements damages and define the maintenance interventions.

Within this degree, Road Safety and Severe Hazards is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the management of road infrastructures safety by means of an interdisciplinary approach (safe system approach) that tackle road safety issues using several measures to improve drivers behaviour, road design and maintenance and vehicle safety. Students will be familiar with road safety plans and programs, protocols and procedure for develop road safety inspections and audit in accordance with international and national actual rules and regulations in this field. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) identify the highest risk sites for a priority of interventions in the road network; 2) make a road safety inspection in urban environment; 3) write a report of the road safety inspection developed; 4) identify the most critical risk factors of a road sites using crash data (reactive approach) or on site survey (pro-active approach) and select the most effective safety countermeasures able to improve the safety level of the site.

Transport Planning is a course related to the Transport Engineering sector, in the Master's Degree of Road Infrastructures and Transport. The main objective of this degree is to train a highly qualified civil engineer able to operate in the sectors of road infrastructures and transport systems. The Transport Planning course aims to provide students with the most advanced knowledge of mathematical models for the representation of transport demand and supply, as well as their related interactions (assignment models), with regard to continuous transport systems (road networks). The course offers a unified framework of these models in order to implement them into a simulation tool for the design and evaluation of transport projects. Students will acquire highly professional and specialized skills on transport planning issues in terms of 1) representation of road networks; 2) representation of the travel demand, both according to a descriptive aggregate approach, as well as a behavioral disaggregated approach; 3) simulation of route choices; 4) identification of flow and speed conditions on links. At the end of the course the students will be able to 1) define the level of representation to be used and the consequent modeling approach according to the project to be realized; 2) calibrate cost functions for the representation of the transport supply; 3) calibrate behavioral disaggregated demand models; 4) evaluate by simulation the effects of a project on a road network.

The main scope of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of environmental engineering. Road and Railway Construction Technology is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Road and Railway Construction Technology is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the elements for the scheduling and management of the road/railway construction plans. The main topics concern: the organizational requirements for road/railway works; the road/railway construction management; the equipments for road/railway construction; the effects of road construction work zones on traffic flow; the safety on construction sites; the environmental effects during the infrastructure construction. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) identify the construction stages of the transport infrastructures in compliance with project and contractual documents; 2) define the most appropriate sequence of the construction phases in relation to aims and constraints; 3) implement a control system to detect the progress of the construction process and make corrections if necessary.

Urban and metropolitan Transport is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this master's degree program, the course of Urban and Metropolitan Transport aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge related to the methods of analysis and design of an urban road transport system, with specific reference to intersections, both signalized and unsignalized. Students will acquire the necessary skills to 1) identify the critical elements of an urban traffic network; 2) analyze their performance through the use of consolidated study methods; 3) propose coherent short-term design solutions; 4) verify the performance of the interventions adopted. At the end of the course the students will be able to 1) carry out surveys on traffic demand at intersections; 2) carry out surveys on transport supply, both geometric and singalized; 3) represent the observed road system with adequate simulation tools; 4) evaluate performances by calculating the service level with respect to reference scenarios; 5) adopt design solutions at both single intersection and road arteries; 6) verify the effectiveness of the proposed solutions with respect to international standards.

Within this master's degree program, Smart Mobility course aims to offer students in-depth knowledge of transport systems in relation to recent availability of large amount of data on the mobility of people and vehicles. The Freight Transport and Logistics course aims to provide students with the main knowledge of logistics and supply chain components, to the management of a warehouse with reference to incoming and outgoing flows, to the techniques for forecasting and managing freight demand, to the distribution of goods at different spatial level (urban, regional, national and international level). Students will acquire highly professional and specialized skills on problems related to the planning of a supply chain such as 1) sizing and optimization of logistics nodes and infrastructures 2) methods and models for management of freight transport demand. Skills will also be acquired regarding the energy and environmental aspects of freight transport. DESIGN OF HARBOURS AND MARITIME STRUCTURES
(objectives)
Design of harbours aims at providing knowledge and competences for the design of a complex civil infrastructure, with specific reference to a maritime terminal. A detailed knowledge of the following topics is provided: 1) main maritime terminals; 2) main maritime structures typologies and design methods; 3) planning and management of engineering design activities; 4) meteoceanographic data statistical analysis and models for the wave propagation into harbours; 5) oral and written presentation methods. After the course the students shall be able of: 1) specifying the requirements of the project, identifying the constraints and the relevant codes; 2) planning the design activities; 3) developing statistical analyses on meteoceanographic data, to provide inputs for the design activities; 4) applying numerical models for the wave penetration into harbours; 5) defining alternative design solutions and select the optimal one; 6) using cad software and designing the main maritime structures, also providing a preliminary plan of the construction activities; 7) presenting orally the design and writing accurate reports; 8) working in team.

Road Safety and Severe Hazards is a course of the Master Degree in Road Infrastructures and Transport. This degree aims at training a highly professional figure in civil engineering with specific knowledge and skills in road infrastructures design and management and transportation issues. Within this degree, Road Safety and Severe Hazards is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and understanding of the management of road infrastructures safety by means of an interdisciplinary approach (safe system approach) that tackle road safety issues using several measures to improve drivers behaviour, road design and maintenance and vehicle safety. Students will be familiar with road safety plans and programs, protocols and procedure for develop road safety inspections and audit in accordance with international and national actual rules and regulations in this field. At the end of the course the students will be able to: 1) identify the highest risk sites for a priority of interventions in the road network; 2) make a road safety inspection in urban environment; 3) write a report of the road safety inspection developed; 4) identify the most critical risk factors of a road sites using crash data (reactive approach) or on site survey (pro-active approach) and select the most effective safety countermeasures able to improve the safety level of the site.
