ENGLISH 2B General information about course aims, contents & exams • LANGUAGE: ACHIEVEMENT OF B2 LEVEL. • LECTURES: WRITTEN TEXT ANALYSIS. DEFINITION OF WORD AND OF MEANING. DENOTATION AND CONNOTATION. COHESION, COHERENCE, CO-TEST, CONTEXT, TEXT-TYPES, ADVERTISEMENTS, ROLE OF ADDRESSEES. MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WRITTEN AND SPOKEN TEXTS
PORTFOLIO PROJECTS Students will carry out an individual or group project on the analysis of different texttypes (written, spoken, multimodal, video). The number of texts will be minimum 6 maximum 10, representative of different typologies. The texts and the analysis will be collected in the students’ individual portfolios. • Texts should be illustrated in detail and analysed according to their typology, their purposes, their information structure, their features of cohesion and coherence and their implications. • Samples of similar texts in Italian are welcome for purpose of comparison. Students may use Power Point presentations and photocopies. Presentations will take place during the last lesson and will be part of the final exam.
