Poesia e teatro nel Nordamerica anglofono contemporaneo


Generi che si avvicinano per impregnare il teatro di carica lirica e il teatro di carica drammatica sono naturalmente flessibili ed aperti a e ibridizzazione. Poesia e il dramma condividono caratteristiche specifiche e si impregnano vicendevolmente di carica lirica e performativa.
E’ sufficiente prendere in considerazione le opere dei maggiori drammaturghi, dei poeti modernisti, della generazione beat e post-beat, degli autori della post-modernità di diverse etnie e gender per scoprire le modalità in cui i due generi si mescolano per creare sconfinamenti sovversivi.
Lo studio condurrà a raggiungere la comprensione adeguata del significato di genere (genre) nella letteratura contemporanea.
Tra gli autori che studieremo: W.C. Williams, Eugene O’Neill, T. Williams, A. Miller, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Kenneth Patchen, Diane Di Prima, Susan Sontag, Erin Shields, Carolyn Gage, Bob Dylan e Toni Morrison.
I testi di T. Williams, A Streetcar Named Desire e Virgin Suicides (romanzo di Eugenides e film di S. Coppola) saranno analizzati in dettaglio.
