1. Seismic Response of Structures 1.1 Linear Response
Single degree of freedom systems: definition, free vibrations with/without damping, response to general forces, elastic response spectra (acceleration, velocity, displacement).
Multiple degrees of freedom systems: lumped mass models, modal analysis, seismic actions, response spectrum analysis.
Concepts of structural regularity for optimal seismic behavior.
1.2 Nonlinear Response
Ductility at material, sectional, and structural levels.
Design response spectra and behavior factors.
2. Structural Design in Seismic Zones Definition of seismic action and design principles.
Criteria for reinforced concrete design in seismic zones, emphasizing durability and sustainability.
Design strategies: elastic design, ductile design, seismic isolation.
Construction simplification and site optimization.
Structural modeling and seismic codes (NTC2018, Eurocodes).
Overview of foundations, shear walls, and stairs in seismic contexts.
3. Design and Verification of Reinforced Concrete Structures in Seismic Zones 3.1 Floors
Selection of structural typology, standards, preliminary sizing, load analysis, simplified FEM modeling.
Verification of bending and shear sections, construction details, structural drawings.
3.2 Reinforced Concrete Structures
Seismic action, load analysis, structural system definition.
Technical standards, analytical and numerical modeling, modal analysis.
Design and verification of structural elements (beams, columns, joints) following resistance hierarchy.
Durability and sustainability of materials and solutions.
Basics of geotechnical design and shallow foundations.
Construction details, structural drawings, introduction to infill panels and secondary elements.
