Turgenev, A Hunter's Memoirs (only 'The Meadow of Bež'), Fathers and Sons F.M. Dostoevsky, The Double, Crime and Punishment, The Mild and a novel among: The Demons/ The Idiot/ The Brothers Karamazov N.G. Černyševskij, What to do? L.N. Tolstoy, Anna Karenina/ War and Peace, The Death of Ivan Il'ič.
2 readings among: N.V. Gogol', Mirgorod (only ‘Old-fashioned landlords’) A.I. Herzen, The Past and Thoughts A.N. Ostrovsky, The Forest/Hurricane L.N. Tolstoy, The Tales of Sebastopol, The Kreutzer Sonata M.V. Garšin, The Red Flower NB: those who read War and Peace need only add 1 optional reading. It is possible to substitute the optional readings with those of Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy indicated above
