(syllabus)
This course is aimed at introducing students to the main literary expressions of the Nineteenth Century in North America, with a focus on the notion of American Renaissance and the formulation of American Canon. Students will be given the tools to understand and analyze the content through a double perspective: the relation between romance and novel, and the opposition between literature and market.
