| GENERAL AND APPLIED ANIMAL VIROLOGY
(objectives)
By describing the replication strategies of animal viruses belonging to some of the main families, the course aims to deepen the knowledge of the issues related to the replication strategies of animal viruses, interactions with the host cell, host defense mechanisms against viral infections and respective strategies viral evasion, methods of detection, identification and titration of viruses, antiviral drugs and prophylaxis of viral infections. Furthermore, the student will have the opportunity to learn about the main applications of virology: generation of viral vectors of gene expression and oncolytic viruses, vaccine development, and will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to understand in-depth texts and experimental data related to the discipline.
