MOCAN MIRA VERONICA
(syllabus)
The course will explore the basic notions of Romance philology and linguistics acquired in the first year, illustrating the main literary texts from the origins of Romance culture, in the context of the courtly poetry of the troubadours and the courtly-chivalric romance. Selections will be made from significant works of the medieval Romance tradition, which have had a significant impact on subsequent literature, right up to the present day, becoming part of the European cultural canon. Excerpts from these works will be analyzed from linguistic, textual-critical, and literary-cultural perspectives, with particular attention to the material tradition and the manuscript transmission of literary texts in Romance Europe.
