TECHNOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL INNOVATION IN ARCHITECTURE
(objectives)
The course aims to provide students with methodological and technical tools to make informed choices in defining the technological and environmental aspects of a project, particularly for buildings with high innovation content such as those with high energy efficiency. Students will be guided to understand the behavior of the building considered as an integrated system of technological and environmental components responding to its different functions and typologies. Innovative materials and construction techniques will be illustrated for efficiency level and environmental compatibility, showing how the evolution of technological knowledge contributes to innovative design, supported also by scientific research activities and the production of new knowledge essential to address the challenges posed by current environmental, social, and economic issues. Topics such as urban regeneration, energy retrofitting of existing and new buildings, with particular attention to the construction process and innovative construction technologies, will be addressed.

The course aims to provide students with the technical and methodological tools to make informed choices in defining the procedural aspects of the project. The objective is to understand the meaning of a design able to develop coherently with the assumptions of the programming in order to reach realizable results that give rise to adequate solutions and responding to the logic of quality. The contents of the course are oriented to the achievement of a twofold objective: to form the basic knowledge of the operators, rules and tools that regulate the building process and promote the development of a critical ability to manage a complex apparatus of information.
