MATHEMATICS AND DATA ANALYSIS
(objectives)
The course has both an educational goal, introducing reasoning and mathematical symbolism, and calculus training. We want to provide the conceptual and methodological tools to understand the basic scientific language, providing the foundations of mathematical analysis (in one variable), linear algebra (in two and three dimensions), statistics, oriented towards the understanding of geometric and physical-mathematical models. As part of this path, the course aims to provide 1) knowledge of the basics of mathematical analysis, vector and matrix calculus, topics that are presented from both a geometric and algebraic point of view and a modeling description is provided; 2) a basic knowledge of statistics and probability; the educational objectives of the course will allow the acquisition of methodological skills which will be necessary tools in order to understand, analyze and critically process data sets.
