late ancient philology in Classical studies LM-15 DI MARCO MICHELE
(syllabus)
Title of the teaching module: The construction of the doctrinal lexicon in the late antique West: the "Liber differentiarum [II]" of Isidore of Seville The module, monographic in nature, intends to introduce to the knowledge of the doctrinal vocabulary that conveys much of the culture, mentality and imagery of ancient and late antique Christian authors, starting from the reading and analysis of a work in which the most mature outcomes of the author's design of the Etymologiae to elaborate and transmit to his audience a synthesis of the cultural and 'sapiential' heritage of the past are prefigured. - As part of the module, exercises aimed at orienting to the knowledge and critical use of the main digital resources for the study and research on Christian authors of Late Antiquity will also be integrated.
