(syllabus)
The course aims to provide students with an adequate preparation on the theoretical and technical aspects of Operations Management. The course will provide ideas and examples related to production, processes and organizations both in manufacturing and service. Course Goal: - Identifying and evaluate the increasing importance of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the manufacturing and service sectors. - Examining the operations management theory. - Understanding the role of sustainability in the supply chain. The teaching methodology promotes an interactive approach. The course will include representatives of companies. The teaching methodology used includes group work, external seminars and discussions in the classroom. The course is in English. The course is structured on the following topics: Introduction to Operations management and Sustainability Operations management and Service Operations Management Linking Operations Management with Agenda 2030 Operations Strategy in a Global Environment Managing operations: Sustainable Supply Chain Management Activities of the Supply Chain Management Sustainability in the Supply Chain Measuring the sustainability in the Supply Chain Designing operations: design of Goods and Services Process Technology and Innovation. Process design and Layout strategies Capacity management and forecasting Inventory management Material Requirements Planning Lean operations Project Management.
The course includes self-assessment evaluation in-class, team-work and field visits.
