GENDER VIOLENCE LABORATORY AND ANTIVIOLENCE CENTERS
(objectives)
This course provides an overview of the various forms, causes, and consequences of gender-based violence. The students explore the theoretical frameworks, historical contexts, and contemporary issues related to gender-based violence. Through interdisciplinary perspectives, the course aims to promote methodological, strategic, and technical skills in relation to the functioning of service networks and institutional apparatuses engaged in the areas of countering gender-based violence. Specifically, the course objectives are: 1. Understand the concept of gender-based violence and its manifestations in different cultures and contexts. 2. Analyze the root causes and perpetuating factors of gender-based violence, including social norms, power dynamics and systemic inequalities. 3. Examine the impact of gender-based violence on individuals, communities and societies, including physical, psychological and socio-economic consequences. 4. Evaluate strategies and interventions to prevent and respond to gender-based violence at the individual, community and policy levels.
