(syllabus)
The course will focus on the basic theoretical and conceptual frameworks of sociology, observed in their historical development and in relation to social changes. The exploration will be structured around the main paradigms adopted by the discipline: - Methodological holism (Durkheim, functionalism, structuralism, social systems theory). - Methodological individualism (Weber, Pareto, phenomenological sociology). - Formal sociology (Simmel, symbolic interactionism, sociology of emotions). - Marxism (Marx, critical theory). The path will lead to the main interpreters of contemporary society. Finally, we will focus on the social construction of youth identity in neoliberal society, by the study of an empirical research on entrepreneurial activation policies and on their recipients.
(reference books)
The fundamental bibliographic reference is the handbook by Franco Crespi and Massimo Cerulo "Il pensiero sociologico" (Il Mulino, Bologna 2022, second edition). It is possible to choose another handbook with the teacher's consent. For the final monographic section, we will adopt the essay by Paolo Inno "Creativi per forza. Identità valori e strategie di vita del giovane impresa di sé" (Meltemi, Milan 2022).
