(syllabus)
The course intends to analyse the relationship between the movement of the body and the movement of images, exploring the dialogue between the language of dance and that of video in the range of relationships from documentation to artistic creation, from dance in film to images as a dramaturgical element. In the chronological span from the first decades of the 20th century to contemporary experiences, the module is based on the vision, analysis, commentary and study of some cases of interrelation between choreographic language and visual language. In particular, the theme of action in front of the camera will be examinated, exploring the differences between photography, cinema and video through some examples of choreographers, film-makers, video-artists.
