(syllabus)
The course proposes an analytical examination of one of the classics of 20th century legal philosophy, namely HLA Hart's The Concept of Law. In particular, the course will deal with the following topics:
- the nature of (legal) norms
- sovereignty
- law as the union of primary and secondary rules
- the Rule of Recognition
- legal interpretation
- the relationship between law and morals
- The Postscript
