LANZARA GIULIA
(syllabus)
The objective of the course is both experimental and theoretical. From a theoretical perspective, it will provide in-depth knowledge of the main materials used in offshore applications (e.g., platforms, wind turbines, subsea pipelines, ...), characterized by extreme environments due to the combination of chemical, mechanical, and thermal stresses. The main methods for advanced, multiscale characterization of materials will be illustrated. At the same time, tools and knowledge necessary for structural monitoring will be provided.
From an experimental standpoint, laboratory experimental activities will be carried out as part of a thesis focusing on the development of materials and/or monitoring systems for specific case studies.
