The main objective of the course is to provide the student with the basic knowledge of cell biology, with reference to the animal cell. The course also aims to introduce the student to the fundamental principles of evolutionary biology and to the knowledge of the main animal phyla and their characteristics, with particular attention to the groups involved in possible interactions with humans and to organisms capable of producing substances of particular medical and pharmaceutical interest. Basic knowledge of the morpho-functional organization of plant organisms with particular reference to the main tissues and organs of vascular plants. Introduction to the systematics and evolutionary aspects of the world of Algae, Fungi, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes and Spermatophytes) and recognition of the main systematic groups.
