The course deals the organizational phenomena of theater and performing arts within the evolution of the urban and territorial dimension in its morphological, social, perceptual and cultural components. The traditional structures and practices of theatre, dance, music and circus are highlighted, but also the new forms of organization of urban cultural production and the relationship with the transformations of the city in terms of regeneration, social innovation, sustainability, current urban issues. Using case-studies, including international ones, with particular regard to the ECoC (European Capital of Culture), the Italian Capitals of Culture, the Unesco creative cities, the role of theatrical and cultural organizations in strategic planning of the city is also illustrated.
