The course provides an overview of the principles of sustainability and the tools for assessing environmental impact. After an introduction to the fundamental concepts, the course explores environmental impact indicators and the main issues related to global, atmospheric, acoustic, and marine pollution. It examines methodologies for environmental and strategic impact assessment. Additionally, it covers physical phenomena related to heat transfer, such as conduction, convection, and radiation, as well as the urban heat island effect. The course includes an in-depth study of building physics, energy simulation, and instrumental energy diagnosis techniques. Finally, it presents methods for measuring the energy performance of buildings, including the heat flux meter method, the thermometric method, and infrared thermography.
