(syllabus)
The course aims to 1) provide the basic geologic/geomorphologic concepts with a particular emphasis on those affect the evolution of coastal areas and the ocean floor; 2) present the main tools for direct and indirect analysis of the ocean floor; 3) understand the main physical and chemical mechanisms that regulate atmospheric circulation pattern and large scale oceanic currents; 4) evaluate natural risks with a focus on those occurring in the marine and coastal environments; 5) appreciate the conformation of the Italian coasts and the bathymeters of the seas that surround it.
