The course, which is based on the results of the SIXXI research project, proposes a reading through the history of Italian structural engineering between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The stories of some works, of many protagonists (the most famous Pier Luigi Nervi and Riccardo Morandi, but also neglected designers like Silvano Zorzi, Sergio Musmeci, Giulio Krall, Gino Covre and many others), of epic yards, will be studied in depth, to grasp the identity of the Italian School of Engineering and its possible future.

By offering the course the results of a research in progress, there are no updated publications on which to study without following the lessons. However, the 5 volumes of the SIXXI series - History of structural engineering in Italy, edited by T. Iori and S. Poretti, Gangemi publisher, published between 2014 and 2020 are useful for the preparation, together with the monographic number: T. Iori, S.
