(syllabus)
The aim of the course is to give an overview of the more relevant issues of visual culture in the frame of film and media aesthetics. In particular, the course will be focused on both historically relevant perspective and more recent topics and methodologies. The program will be articulated around two main stages. In the first one, relevant debates on cinema and visual culture from the beginning of the XXth century to date will be considered. In the second one, the works of Stanley Kubrick will be addressed, with a special focus on visual aesthetics.
