(syllabus)
The course will be organized in two main sections. In the first, through the study of specific cases, the complex transformation of conflicts in contemporary times will be explored, focusing in particular on those wars whose outcomes have marked the great changes of the contemporary era. In the second part, we will focus on a conflict that is currently still ongoing, namely the war of aggression unleashed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, trying to bring out the origins of this war. It will also be framed both from a post-imperial confrontation perspective and as a powerful factor of nation-building and claiming legitimacy to exercise one's full state sovereignty.
