1 THE SEISMIC RESPONSE OF STRUCTURES:
1.1 Response of Structures in the linear field
1.1.1. One-degree-of-freedom systems:
- Definition of the Simple Oscillator, - Free oscillations of the Simple Oscillator with and without damping, - Response of a simple oscillator subject to a generic forcer, - Introduction to Elastic Response Spectra (acceleration, velocity, displacement),
1.1.2. Multi-degree-of-freedom systems:
- Hints on Concentrated Mass Models, - Hints on Modal Analysis, - Hints on Seismic Actions, - Hints on Seismic Analysis using acceleration response spectrum,
1.2. Seismic response of structures in the nonlinear field:
- Hints on Ductility (material, section, element, structure), - Hints on Design Response Spectra, - Hints on Structure Coefficient.
2. THE DESIGN OF STRUCTURES IN SEISMIC ZONE.
- Definition of seismic action, - Conception structural design, - Criteria for good design of ca structures in the seismic zone, - Brief introduction to possible design strategies in the seismic zone (elastic design, ductility design, seismic isolation design, etc), - Hints of structural modeling in the seismic zone, - Introduction to seismic standards for structural design (Technical Standard for Construction NTC2018 in Italy, Eurocodes in Europe, international standards), - Hints on Foundation Design, - Hints on design in the seismic zone of walls, - Hints on the design of stairs.
3. R.C. STRUCTURE DESIGNED IN SEISMIC ZONE.
3.1. Design and verification of floors: - Choice of Structural Type, - Technical standards for design and verification, - Predimensioning of the Structural System (section geometries, etc.), - Outlines of Elemental Load Analysis and their combinations, - Analytical and numerical modeling of the floor (F.E.M. software), simplified approach, - Sections Design and verification (bending and shear, simplified formulations), - Notes on Construction Details, - Definition and preparation of structural design drawings.
3.2. Design and verification of a reinforced concrete ( r.c. ) structure:
- Definition of seismic action, - Analysis and simplified combinations of elementary loads, - Definition of the Structural System (simplified approach), - Hints on Technical Standards for Structural Design (NTC 2018, Eurocodes, INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS), - Simplified approach for analytical and numerical modeling using F.E.M. software, - Hints on the study of structural behavior, - Hints on modal analysis, - Design and verification of elements according to the hierarchy of strengths, - Analysis by acceleration response spectrum according to Technical Standard, - Design and verification of structural elements (beams, columns, nodes), - Hints on geotechnics study (soil bearing capacity, creep verification), - Hints on Design and verification of surface foundations (punching, bending reinforcement), - Hints on Construction Details, - Preparation of structural design drawings (beams, columns, nodes), - Brief introduction to design and verification of infills, - Hints on secondary elements.
4. INSIGHTS ON STRUCTURES IN SEISMIC ZONE.
