MOBILE SYSTEMS
(objectives)
The course aims to address fundamental aspects about telecommunication systems. It provides students with analytic tools to study and design system’s architecture and transmission techniques. In particular, optimization criteria of the several layers that forms the whole project (from application to physical layer) are addressed according to the top-down approach. It covers system aspects such as the cellular scheme, radio network access protocols and modulations, radio channel modelling, radio transmission algorithms, optimum signal processing, and performance analyses. It aims to describe the major standards of new generation wireless communications (4G and 5G) and also the proposals for the next one (6G), by focusing on the design solutions depending on the provided services. Finally, it illustrates several cross-layer application problems such as security and privacy in mobile communications, as well as techniques for hidden communications and fast algorithms for signal and transmitting source detection.
