MARINE BIO-ECOLOGY FOR OFFSHORE ENGINEERING
(objectives)
The course is aimed at providing industrial engineers with basic knowledge in marine biology and ecology, so that the student can appreciate the potential adverse impact of anthropic activities on the marine ecosystem and make informed decisions favouring sustainability of marine production activities.

(syllabus)
Impact of anthropogenic activities at a global level on the marine ecosystems due to offshore production activities in the Anthropocene era and choices of strategies that can favor actions of (i) development of ecological control tools useful for the identification of threats and disturbances (intensity and duration), and (ii) construction of sustainable bio-remedy works for the protection of aquatic resources, in line with the main international directives on water to recover and (re) enhance all those natural services that ecosystems aquatic supplies to man.
