Innate immunity: cells and molecules involved; mechanisms of innate antibacterial and anti-viral immunity. MHC molecules and antigenic presentation. Acquired immunity: antigenic recognition and activation of helper and cytotoxic T lymphocytes; T helper lymphocyte subpopulations (Th1, Th2, Th17, follicular T, regulatory T cells); Humoral immunity: structure and function of antibodies, isotypes and isotypic switches. Regulation of mucosal immunity to pathogens. Mechanisms of evasion of the immune system. Modulation of the immune response: vaccines. Immunological tests for the diagnosis of infectious diseases: direct and indirect diagnosis (ELISA, western blot, agglutination, complement fixation); lymphocyte subpopulations (flow cytometry); ELISPOT test; Immunofluorescence.
