The US and French constitutional paradigms. The contents of the Declarations of Rights over time. Happiness and dignity. Freedom, political rights and social rights in the Constitutions after World War II. The basic choices of the Italian Constitution. Citizens and foreigners. Limits to the exercise of fundamental rights. The instruments of protection: reservation of the law and reservation of jurisdiction. Constitutional duties of political, economic and social solidarity. Who is responsible for identifying the "new rights"? Is the "maximum expansion" of rights conceivable? Constitutional rights, fundamental rights, human rights. The so-called multilevel protection. In particular, the competences of the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. Effectiveness of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Nice Charter in the domestic legal system. Forms of coordination between the Italian courts, the Constitutional Court, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.
