(syllabus)
The aim of the course is to face with the origins and the development of a stable Italian and European diplomacy, from the end of the 15th century until the beginning of the 19th century. A critical approach will be used to study sources and models, considering the connections between the Early Modern Era to the Late Modern World. The topics of the lectures are: the origin of the diplomatic representation, Italian and European models, diplomatic treatises, careers and roles of ambassadors and nuncios, negotiation skills that are typical of the Early Modern Age.
