(syllabus)
The course explores the history of architecture in Renaissance Rome and offers an overview of the major research methodology, e.g. the analysis of the material culture, the history of techniques, the study of drawings and maps, the reading of literary sources. The course is based on an interdisciplinary approach, which will emphasise the relations among the history of architecture, history of art, economic history and history of literature. Students will be asked to work on the different scales of the project (single monuments, cities, landscape). The class is organised in monographic lecture, seminars, conferences and visits on site.
