AFTER THE COLD WAR: EUROPE IN THE GLOBAL WORLD
The course starts from the 1989-1991 transition, with the end of the Cold War and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union. The analysis of the dynamics and causes of these events introduces the study of the main events that marked European history in the 1990s and in the first decades of the 21st century. In particular, the following processes will be focused: the recomposition of the relationship between the various areas of the European continent; the enlargement of the European Union and NATO; the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s; the transition in Central-Eastern Europe; the evolution of the situation in Russia and in other former Soviet states; the relationship between Russia and the West of Europe. The interaction between European events and globalization processes will be a constant reference of the course.
