Knowledge and understanding of some of the main theoretical and methodological issues related to translation as linguistic and cultural mediation. Introduction to the translation of simple texts from different genres. Introduction to English-Italian comparative and contrastive analysis; use of monolingual and bilingual dictionaries; analysis of parallel texts and translation of selected texts.
