(syllabus)
The course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of the various psychological and social issues associated with organized work. The program will consider the basic concepts to understand the interaction between the individual and the work environment, with particular reference to the recent changes in the labor market and organizational processes. In the first part of the course, an overview of the history of the discipline will be presented, highlighting the plurality of fields of investigation and intervention: study of work contexts; labor market dynamics; recent changes in work and organizations. The second part will analyze the evolution of the main constructs, with a focus on some practical issues characterizing the current work contexts. In particular, the thematic insights will concern: motivation at work and meanings attributed to work; work socialization; job analysis; safety at work; emotions and stress in the workplace; counterproductive behaviors in work contexts.
