Reading and commentary in class on a Montessori's work: The assorbent Mind. In this dialogic and interactive path we will try to explore in depth Montessori's thought on the processes of formation and organization of the child's mind in that decisive phase which is represented by the 3-6 years old, how to feed the development that takes place in that phase of life, both mind and body.
Seminar activities are an integral part of the teaching programme and its educational objectives.
Knowledge and understanding: the processes of formation and organization of the mind of the child in the 3-6 year old age group;
· Applied knowledge and understanding skills: to define learning pathways that can nourish the processes of development of the child's mind and body at the age taken as reference;
· making judgements: choose critically and consciously methods and didactic tools functional to the development objectives.

Basic course (6 cfu) - Experimentalism (empirical research in education) applied to the design of educational innovation; Montessori and the innovative force of its pedagogical and didactic proposal, the topicality of Montessori, the importance of sensory education; the role of the body in learning processes. In-depth examination of Montessori's proposal of education for peace and rights, as a prerequisite for the design of educational interventions for the conscious exercise of citizenship in an inclusive key.

Applying knowledge and understanding - Contextualizing Montessori’s approach to the teaching and learning of handwriting in the historical period of its publication; - understanding correct and wrong aspects in the development of the graphic gesture; - understanding, through a critical analysis of doodling and manuscripts, aspects related to correct learning of handwriting.
Making judgements Reflecting on the contemporary approaches to the teaching and learning of handwriting and comparing them with Montessori’s approach.

The Laboratory on "Teaching how to write. From doodling to writing" is included in "Experimentalism, teaching innovation and Montessori pedagogy" and is worth 3 ECTS. Starting from doodling in preschoolers and writing at school, the laboratory will focus on the neurophysiological aspects of the graphic gesture with regards to the correct teaching and learning of writing.
