Introduction to Spanish linguistics and to linguistic and cultural mediation in the hispanic context.

The module intends to introduce students to hispanic linguistics in a contrastive and intercultural perspective (SPA/ITA). The course programme will be articulated into four parts:
1. Overview of the spanish speaking world, origins and evolution of the spanish language;
2. Synchronic description of spanish language: phonetics, phonology and orthography; lexical morphology and word formation processes;
3. Linguistic resources: introduction to the knowledge and adecuate use of the dictionary; monolingual dictionary vs. bilingual dictionary;
4. Introduction to the concept of linguistic and cultural mediation; types of mediation; mediation competence and translating competence; general aspects of spanish-italian translation; oral and written activities based on simple texts.
