Lyrical Mindscapes. A Transnational Approach to English Poetry
Program:
The course will adopt a comparative approach to English lyric poetry. Students are encouraged to take part in the preparation of a syllabus, suggesting poems drawn from the European literary tradition. Taking tuition from , Jonathan Culler's book, Theory of the Lyric di Jonathan Culler, we will orient our readings and textual analysises toward an understanding of the techniques and conventions of the lyric tradition, rather than aiming at suggesting a possible interpretation. u
