(syllabus)
The Course is focused on the legal discipline of cultural heritage in the Italian system, without neglecting the necessary framework of European Union law and the main international conventions progressively adopted on the subject. After a definition of "cultural heritage" and other related notions, the course explains the evolution of the legislation on the subject and deepens - taking into consideration the constitutional principles as well as the main contents of the Italian Code of cultural heritage and landscape - the aspects related to: the public and private ownership of cultural heritage, the administrative organization, the relations between state, regions and local units as well as between public authorities and private subjects, the functions directed to protection, enhancement, management and use of cultural heritage, the circulation of cultural assets in the national, European and international context.
